No offense, but ANYONE can find fault with anyone else's work. Just like all the political bickering on here and elsewhere on the Internet - how much of it really ever changes anyone's mind? Most people (like yourself) have your minds made up to begin with, have your values set already, and are ALWAYS going to approach new information viewed through that lens. I'm no different - we all do it. We can SAY we're trying to be objective, but can anyone REALLY do it?

I'd bet a million zillion dollars you didn't watch Gore's movie with the intention of approaching it with an "open mind", you watched it in order to be able to say you've seen it in order to add pseudo-legitimacy to your already established opinion, and to add to the appearance of giving both sides equal time to somehow make yourself (and your opinion) seem more credible. You watched it looking for ways to attack it, not looking for ways it might make an impression.

So you watched it. Good for you. It didn't change your mind at all did it? BIIIIIIIIG effin' surprise there. . .

Actually I didn't even mention the content, did you even read my post or did you only read into it what you wanted to?

I observed Gore the man and was very uninpressed, that was my point. And interestingly I did NOT go into it with that intention or bias, but rather it screamed at me as the movie played on. I was surprised by it.

Pat mentioned the slow speech pattern and that is not what I mean, you really have to watch it I think.

BTW Speeder, got about 15" of snow in the Northern suburbs this weekend. Buried my Audi in the median on Hwy 10 and it took the towtruck with a winch a half hour and the Police closing a lane of traffic to yank me out. :D

Wow, winter finally came in March. Wish I was there, I love snow in Mpls. Now you guys will have a beautiful green spring, hopefully.

As for Gore, he's just not a good campaigner/politician. I believe that he honestly cares about environmental issues, but I'm waiting for the national figure with the balls to address population issues and how immigration ties into it w/ regards to the environment.

Gore is OK with the issues, but he comes across as a piece of wood.

The real issues in this country are not being discussed by the politicians or the media. We have no clue about population control: they still pay for public schools with property taxes--and not according to how many kids in the family are using those schools. That just encourages procreation--still back in the 1800s.
We also have no clue about carbon emissions: about half the vehicles on the road are now trucks and SUVs-exempt from mpg limits. Electric cars have been suppressed by GM--probably to placate the oil companies. Energy policy has been in remission.

Has anybody noticed that hybrid cars appreciate in value (Kelly blue book)? That's an omen for things to come.

What are you speaking about? There's no over-population problem in America, and likely never will be. If anything, there's an under-population problem with native Americans, and a huge swarm of immigrants causing cultural problems. Beyond that, what is the issue?

Aside form the obvious, the main thing I took from it was how incredibly stupid Gore is. I can't believe it made it through editing that way.

The only possible excuse is that he was dumbing down the message for the masses, but it was too consistent though the different locations, times, flashbacks, etc.... I never thought he was brilliant, but I am shocked that he's this intellectually unimpressive.

Weird.

So the part about his older sister smoking and dying of cancer should of been edited out because it was stupid? Maybe the part about his father growing tobacco and how they stopped growing it after that? Just which "flashback" suffered from to much "dumbing down"?

Did you understand any of the correlations he was making?

Smoking = Cancer

More carbon = Increased global temperatures

If you don't get it maybe you are stupid, not the otherway around.

Ofcourse the climate is changing, the climate is ALWAYS changing. That is not the dispute.

I did particularly like the part where Gore could see the exact date of the Congressional clean air act in the Arctic ice core though:D

how could a man who invented the internet not be intelligent? (stir...stir...stir...)

:)

How many of you folks know that Gore's roommate at Harvard was Tommy Lee Jones? Tommy was an end on the football team there. He's originally from Texas. Too bad Gore can't act as well. He could have used it in politics.
