Should I buy this Carrera GT?

26 mpg on a V6 chevy and 7 grands. Yeah, it is not the real deal, but I`d rather drive that than a n/a 914 (Nomex suit: checked).

Except for the fact that it doesn't look much like a real CGT.

THere is more than 7k in that car so there is something drastically wrong.

Go take a look. For 7k could make a fun beater.

Why not, if you like it. You live in Boston right? Lots of salt on the roads for $6 or $7K if you can afford it who cares.

Ya know ... except for the small looking wheels in the wheel wells, it doesn't look half bad. Cheap Commuter Car?

I wonder if you could fit a SBC in there?

$2K buys you 300+ HP, then it would be fun.

It's hard to tell what the car looks like, because he's obviously avoided all the angles that make it look bad. Like dead on from the side.

If he didnt try and pull it off as a replica or even an homage to the original and justleft it a debadged kit car it woul.d be neat. The body looks kind of good.

A real car is better than a fake car, even if the real one is a 914.

Could you really be comfortable driving a pretend, poser, wanna be car? I'd have trouble with that.

Fiero based so lots of swap V8's to pick from
older caddy 4.9 pushrod motors bolt in for 200 hp
and a cost of a grand or two done by a DIYSer

northstar is harder esp wireing
but nets 300hp alloy 4v DOHC
and 400hp is a few mods away
but costs go up as custom bits are needed

or good old or new small block chevys need a kit
and cost 2000 plus the motor wireing ect
LS-1 are more but lighter esp all alloy ones

then theres the v6 options
3.4 bigger but same 60 deg v6 for 180 hp
new but complex 3.9 v6 has 240hp and a 6speed
or the older 3.4 DOHC motor for 215 hp
those all bolt in with little sweat

90 deg all iron v6 in 3800 SI,S2,S3 in both normal and supercharged form is an eazy swap too
200 to 300+ HP for them

then there are some desent 4 bangers too
eco-tec and Quad 4 but those need a near same trans swap and a turbo or SC to get real HP

my Fiero has a north star V8 5 speed
vett brakes
tube A-arms coilovers ect
custom anti roll bars
18'' wheels and stickie race tyres
but a stock Fiero GT body
