A hypothetical question
Say I was out walking my dogs, and I came to an intersection and waited for the signal to change. After I get the green light, and begin to cross, I notice some douche in a rabbit convertible approaching the intersection at a high rate of speed(say 60 mph in a 40 zone), with no apparent intention of stopping for his red light, indeed he seems to be accelerating. If I were to pick up a 5 lb piece of concrete, or a similar object, and lob it at him, aiming for say, the middle of his windshield, and struck his car with it as he crossed the crosswalk I was attempting to use, would that be a crime?
I only ask because this happened today and I refrained from lobbing a heavy object into his path, though I was sorely tempted, as there happened to be some broken conrete at my feet as he passed a few meters in front of me.

yes it would. maybe worth it though. or you could just pick up the concrete and lob it in front of you where he could just avoid it by stopping and doing the right thing...

Or at least wait until he had passed, swinging it threw his rear window (sorry wouldn´t work with a cab).

I presume you are being sarcastic?
I understand your rage... I was crossing at a stop sign, I was in the crosswalk with my dog on a leash pulling me, and some idiot almost ran my dog over.

A windshield/driver moving at 60mph meeting a concrete block traveling in the opposite direction will probably kill the driver.

two wrongs don't make a right.
You would be in a lot of trouble, more than the driver would. |

I'm with Tshabet and sammyg2. If you didn't kill the driver, he'd almost certainly panic and lose control of the car. You would be responsible for any resulting damage/injury.
So, I guess what I'm saying is, wear a mask and run like Hell after you do it. Hypothetically. JP

when the light turns green , you look both ways to see if it is clear to cross the intersection, whether you are a pedestrian or a driver.
in the event that you wait for the light to turn green, and proceed without checking for traffic first, you may be right, but you will be DEAD RIGHT!

I like the answer I got the other place I posted this.
As I leap backwards out of his way, the brick I was carrying slipped out of my hand and happened to hit his windshield. I would not have a problem killing him. He saw me, and the dogs, and accelerated anyway. I was forced to jump back and pull them out of harms way. He clearly had no problem killing me, a car at 60 mph hitting a person would do more damage than a brick hitting at 60 mph, simple physics. Would make the world a better place too if he hit a brick at that speed.

Get his tag number, call 911, and report that he attempted to run you down. File assault charges.

People need to learn that they are accountable for how they drive, even if the police aren't there to see them. I admit to becoming a "snitch". I'm not claiming to be an angel myself; I like to speed on a nice open highway. However, I have no problem calling in tailgaiters, people who speed in residential areas and wreckless drivers in general. Local police are usually glad to handle it... even if it's just to give a warning.

Throwing objects at a vehicle is considered a felony. About 14 years ago, my wife and I were on our way out to dinner and had just turned onto a main road. As soon as we had turned and started accelerating, I noticed a bunch of large rocks in the road, and almost immediately heard what I assumed were those rocks being kicked up and hitting the car. Almost as quickly, I realized that the sound I heard had been rocks that were being thrown at our almost new car.
We called 911 and were told the police had been trying to catch whoever had been doing this all day long. They ended up catching the little bastards right after we called. Two 13 year olds and two 14 year olds. They were charged with a felony. We ended up agreeing to lesser charges in favor of some serious community service, etc. They each had to write us a letter of apology as well. The rocks they threw broke the windshield, the right rear glass, and put baseball-size dents in the entire right side of our car. My wife could have been killed if a rock had come through her window. Thankfully, no one was hurt. All this is to say, as stupid as whoever the idiot was that was driving the car that almost hit you, throwing something at him/her would have brought you down to their sub-human intelligence level, and potentially made you a murderer. Not worth it.
