If the hoses are original equipment, it is unlikely that they are able to still hold a charge - and R12 freon is pricey. |
Well, look it's now at $12k. Either the seller is bidding on it himself (I would imagine his reserve was 12k) or some idiot has no idea what they're getting!
*Still wish someone would buy it for me, because I'm still determined to get this car.* :( |
Here's yer Aubergine. No damned Lilac. :)

Katie - I have to agree with the many others who have said this is a poor choice of a car for you as a starter. It's going to require a lot of work, and although rebuilding and restoration can be fun, driving is even more fun.
I have a spacious workshop with air tools, welders, and other necessary tools to take on a task like that Lilac car - and I still would not touch it for more than $5k. Even at that price, making that car into a nice daily driver would cost more than it's completed market value - however it is worth $5k if you part it out. If you keep your eyes open, you will find a much nicer car at a better price. A fellow Pelican just sold his SC for under $10k, and it needed virtually no work at all. It was a beautiful guards red with new tires on real Fuchs and a duck tail. Buy yourself a nice car that you can sport around in, and learn the wrenching part of ownership at your own pace by doing regular maintenance and upgrades - like the projects outlined in Wayne's 101 book. You'll find ownership a lot more enjoyable going that route. (And if you absolutely must have a lilac car, get one professionally painted.) |
True, but I want gold BBS wheels, I'm not interested in Fuchs right now. And I don't want any car with a rear spoiler (I already have one). And I don't want an SC or Carrera 3.2. I just want a purple long-hood, molested or not.
I know, before any of you say it, there's no pleasing some people... |

Gold BBS can be found. Deck lids without a tail can be found. It is also possible to repaint a car these days. That car is a piece. It has been said ad-nauseam. If you want that particular car and all the expensive headaches that it will require in order to be a practical driver, then get it and be done with it.

Wow. Sold for $15,650. Simply amazing. I guess that saying is true, there's a sucker born every minute...

Reminds me of the wrecked BJ40 Landcruiser my buddy bought recently... I've never seen one worse.
How do you tell your friend that he's been had..? |
Yep, sold to fellow Pelican "mycarrera2.7rs" aka "eurocol". He's a buyer/seller/exporter of early 911s. He knows what he's doing, but I wonder if he read any of these threads.
