When our Government makes "Mistakes"
 

Why is it when our government makes a "mistake", they always apologize, hold hearings, meetings, they investigate, someone writes a book and makes money from it.

When YOU make a "mistake", you pay a large fine and go to jail.

it's a trend lately. anyone have a good explaination?

You are absolutely correct. It happens regardless of political party: both sides do it.

It's like how Michael Ovitz drove Disney into the ground and got paid over $100 million for 17 months of dismal performance. I can do at least as bad a job as him, where's my $100 million.

The fact is, in national politics, the system has been designed to protect those people who make it into the elite club. And it goes all the way down to things like the Illinois law that prevents one from voting in primaries if they signed a petition for a third-party candidate.
