What happened to the dinner with BC thread?

It seems to have dissappeared? I was enjoying the banter!

cool_chick 03-10-2007 11:01 AM

Good question. Was wondering what the answer was to my question...

:p

Tobra 03-10-2007 11:42 AM

It degenerated into partisan bickering about whether Milt resembles Cliff Clavun from Cheers or Gert B. Frobe from Joe Dirt, it got pretty ugly

scottmandue 03-10-2007 11:47 AM

I saw it heading for the political rant toilet and ran far far away.

berettafan 03-10-2007 11:58 AM

there were some strong feelings about Willie and Dubya being shared but i didn't see anything terrible. Must've gotten ugly sometime after i last checked in. Certainly i figured everyone involved was an adult and was able to keep it relatively civil (at least for PPOT standards).

speeder 03-10-2007 12:22 PM

Joe took a huge crap on it. When he shows up, "there goes the neighborhood..."

rouxroux 03-10-2007 12:28 PM

Speaking of, when is national dinner & BJ day?

Zeke 03-10-2007 12:57 PM

I asked that it be taken down because of the graphic discussion of oral sex, and a disgusting pic of Monica amongst other things. I was ashamed and careless to have posted a pic of my wife which then became associated with such boorish banter generally slandering a former President of the United States as well as the BJ discussion.

All I intended in the beginning was to share what was, and still is, a memorable and pleasant evening with Bill Clinton as the quest speaker. That's the explanation of where the thread went and I will monitor this one. The moment one of the tasteless posters here mucks this one up, I will ask that it be locked after removing any further offensive remarks.

The removal had nothing to do with the discussion of GWB and Clinton as Presidents. That was to be expected. And, I think I was prepared for the ensuing comments about BC's behavior in the White House. I was not prepared to have my wife's and my name dragged through what became a very nasty and gross discussion of oral sex.

As I told the admins here, if one can't post pics with nipples in them, and if one can't discuss anal sex here (and why would they?), then I'll be damned if I will allow my thread to contain graphic details of oral sex. Period.

Cue heavy southerner accent:

widgeon13 03-10-2007 01:08 PM

I thought Hillary heard about it and asked to have it pulled. it was hurting the campaign.

FWIW, I felt bad for you that thread went that way. All you wanted to do was share an INNOCENT experience you found fun...

Though, to note, I could see that one coming. Just the mere mention of these letters together C L I N T O N sends some off the deep end.....

speeder 03-10-2007 01:51 PM

It was a nice thread & pictures, and it would have been equally as nice if the dinner had been with GHW Bush or Carter. What got posted later was inexcusable, but also illustrative of the mentality of a certain element in American political life. Too bad. I hope that it does not discourage people from posting threads about interesting things that happened to them.

Milt - sorry that I didn't step in earlier in thread.

To the folks who post here in OT: you guys needs to bring up the maturity level a bit here. Take a moment to re-read the forum rules for starters. As some of you may know, the Rennlist OT forum was closed down due to abuse of the forums and pushing the limits and John D's patience. It is up to you to prevent that from happening here.

"Pot calling the kettle black" is what Denis meant to say as things usually do downhill when he arrives. Funny how everything he does is ok but everyone else's posts are so bad.

Milt,

If you did not like the photo of Monica with Slick Willie's DNA all over her face, pls do not look at the "random photos" section. Its just been posted there, and no, I did not either of them.

You guys will have to find another reason to blame this on the conservatives this time. Good luck! :)

Agreed. Thank you Z-man!

The "handicapped" thread got deleted too, I hadn't seen anything that got too out-of-hand on that one.

I didn't read the later posts on the BC-dinner thread, but early on could see the direction it was heading.

I think more "locking" of threads to stop them from degrading too far would be better than complete deletion. I don't like to see "good argument" just disappear (too "Orwellianish" for my tastes) but it's entirely the decision of the forum owner/moderators on how they want to handle complaints.

No, you didn't post either pic and I was clear on who I was blaming for what transgression. But, you did largely contribute to the graphic nature that the thread took and you certainly persisted in arguing your position about what constitutes "sexual relations." Others did, too.

The whole thing was a travesty by the end. I personally really don't give a damn so much, but I resent the overall lack of respect for my wife. That's where I made my mistake was thinking that anyone could open up a Pelican thread and not be grossly offened. Thankfully, it was taken down before anyone close to me was offended, that I know of anyway.

Have your smut wherever you want it, but leave me out.

You mean locking before someone calls someone else a "sexual predator?" I could agree on that.

People who hold grudges over debates they've had with others -- especially when they have a completely deluded recollection about what was said -- really bore me....

Disagreement and debate is great fun, but it gets boring fast when one's "opponent" can't keep facts straight.

Zeke 03-10-2007 03:43 PM

I guess you're gonna stay pretty bored then, because I will never forget. BTW, you outed yourself, I was descrete. Remember that.

I wasn't going to link to the post, but if you really think I'm deluded, I might have to. I just thought it was ironic that you would post something about "good argument" when you resort to that sort of name calling.

Don't push me or I'll bring this thing up, way up.

Edit: I suppose I should spell "discrete" correctly, but I won't alter my original post.
