Always Measure Twice, any local Pelicans Looking for a new dishwasher

I purchased a dishwasher through work, only to find out that it was to big by a 1/4 inch. The problem is I can't return it. Anyone looking for a new Kitchen Aid top of the line dishwasher.

It is $1449.00 new, and I will sell it to a local Pelican for 999.00 picked up at my house.

Always measure twice, as I only did once, and didn't do a very good job.

You mean you can't alter the cabinet by 1/4 inch? (I assume it is the width that is the problem)

yeah... you've got to be able to accommodate 1/4 inch somehow.

Did you try taking the feet out of the bottom?

I'd actually like to know the height of the cabinet you are trying to install under, its actually a point we're trying to solve at work for a dishwasher we are designing.

Thanks!

My problem is the width of the dishwasher.

I had a custom kitchen made, and when designing the cabinets, I said I wanted the dishwasher tight. Well that is one of those, what the f&ck was I thinking.

I had it built around this

Product Dimension
Overall depth of product: 22 7/16
Overall height of product: 32 1/4 - 34 5/8
Overall width of product: 23 7/16

So I have 23 10/16, found a Bose product that is 23 9/16 wide

The kitchen aid is just under 24 inches, dam this is killing me, hope I can sell the dishwasher.

I would like to see pics of the whole row of cabinets to the left or right of the current double dishwasher. Why can't you shift the cabs to the left of the DW and trim the filler strip which is most likely against a wall by the 1/4". Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. Cabs are held in by just a few screws through the back of the nailer strip. Only prob may be the adhesive gluing down the counter top but that can be dealt with. Let us know what you decide to do.

Why not return the DW?

The cabinets can't be moved, would require the Granite to come up, sink on the left, and cabinets on the right would stick out past granite. There is also the wood floor issue.

I bought the dishwasher directly thru Kitchen Aid, piggy backed an order at work, and they told me that I can't return it unless it is broken.

It's really a shame it was damaged in shipping, isnt it?

I was in Lowes looking at dishwashers just a few months ago. Saw a returned stainless Bosch unit and got a tremendous deal. Same thing, Michael... previous buyer only measured once. ;)

This is nothing a 6 pack and a rotary sander can't solve. Oh, yes......and cursing......lots and lots of cursing.

To heck with a sander...try an electric hand planer...something like this one:

Planer

A quarter inch off this edge probably won't even be noticeable...

Then again, if you're feeling adventurous...try 1/8th inch off both sides and a little touch-up paint... nobody will be the wiser. :D

And a small blood sacrifice. It never works without a blood sacrifice.

That isn't my cabinet, that was an example of the darn european dishwasher.

I will post a picture, once my 4 year old comes home and tells me where she hid the camera.
