He is an Icon. Grew up reading Hot Rod magazine.

I grew up reading Hot Rod as well. In fact, I read all the car magazines I could get my hands on. Hot Rod, however, as a kid, was the only magazine where I cut out the articles and pasted them into a scrap book. Maybe it was because I have such a deep affection for SoCal history and how it is intertwined with cars. R&T, C&D never concentrated as highly on Southern California motoring and those behind it as Hot Rod or Motor Trend. Petersen Publications is truly an L.A./SoCal brand that celebrates the motoring scene.

As for Pete, I'm sure the old hands at Bob's Big Boy on Riverside will light a candle for him in his memory this Friday. I'll be sure to drop by and check out the scene there.
