Any artists in the house?
Anyone here draw, paint, sculpt etc?
I have no talent whatsoever in this area, but I am always really impressed by people with artistic talent. Mrs Notfarnow and I try to buy an original piece every year or so, even if it's just a small inexpensive one. We really enjoy the process of hunting down stuff we both really like. Quite a while ago a Pelican posted images of some Porsche paintings he had done. Really cool stuff, and some of them were pretty funny. There must be a few talented pelicans out there. Let's see your stuff!

I paint and produce electronic music. I have 2 records (techno is still largely published on vinyl) and a few tracks featured on compilation CDs.
I can post some paintings this evening.

I'm still trying to be an artist. I've been painting (airbrush) for a few years. I'd like to take up wood carving too.

Mrs. BlueSkyJaunte is *very* talented...in HS she won a number of state-wide competitions et al in multiple media. She specialized in "kirie" (cut paper) back then. Now she does mostly acrylic painting, some sculpture, and has been focusing on sewing lately.
I'm sure I can dig up some of her work somewhere. Whether she'll let me post it is another story... Me, I dabbled in comic book art for a while. I gave up when I realized I didn't know WTF I was doing.

My wife and I both paint--she's much more successful than I. I make furniture in my free time--nothing compared to Milts windows and doors though--now that's art from a true artist.

Thanks Bob. The illustrations (the realistic drawings) are to a point where I am satisfied but the looser / agressive painting style is still a few years away, once I start painting again. I took a little break to start a couple businesses and have kids.
Variety is the spice of life.

I consider myself an artist. Maybe not a fine artist that paints or sculpts. I worked for an accomplished artist a hundred years ago in her studio executing fiberglass layups of sculptures that she designed, I painted them with auto paints, namely early flip-flops from murano. I guess you could say I did all the work, but under her direction. I feel what art I have done on my own has been with cars and small amount of structural design.
I think there's a latent ability in more people than one would assume. However, one needs the solitude and an unstressed environment to create. When is that?! |

Jeff - I really dig the agressive style - wicked amount of energy in the thick/thin strokes. I'd say pick it back up sooner than later.

I have been doing paintings based on anime lately. Most are smaller pieces where I am just trying out new ideas. Here are a couple of the larger ones. Sorry about the crap quality of the photos.

Thanks again Bob. I plan to start doing some drawings on my summer travels and then putting them on canvas when I return this fall.
