Pics of our local Street Road Show yesterday
We live in a great place! There's always so much to choose from to do on the weekends...
Yesterday the local Street Rod guys held their car show. I think this is a fairly new event on which they are looking to build. we got down there late as Tom was playing his cricket grand final in the morning (they won!). Beautiful sunny Autumn day; great band playing rockabilly; good food and fabulous cars! First a little Aussie muscle - Phase II GT HO; matching numbers car. Missing its 12 slotter mags and the rear guards have been flared - otherwise a stunning example: ![]() ![]() And what appeared to be an all-original XW GT: ![]() ![]() |

I'm not into the "pink Caddy" thing at all...but a pink T-Bird; maybe! The detail on this car was amazing - I think our daughter got some really great up close and personal pics of the dash etc - it was stunning. If she got anything worthwhile I'll load them up tonight.

Love the Olds, the T bird, and the Gasser! Looks very much like a "cruise-in" here, Lisa. Yes, I know well...the sound of MFI stacks at 7,300 is music indeed. But you know, a big V-8 eating dead dinosaurs isn't bad either. My 1st muscle ar was white...but otherwise, it looked like this one. In some ways, I do miss the rush of all that torque...

We missed getting some pics of the CAMARO RS!!! Rare, rare beast down these parts; it left early before we got a chance to get a really good look; so we had to make do with these

Paul when it comes to muscle cars I'm a Ford V8 girl - nothin' like the burble of a 351 at idle...and then when you feed it some gas
![]() ![]() Here's some pics of some really sweet rods and such (finally) - these cars were seriously good up close; lots of hours of work in all of them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Lisa, I'd guess that to be a dealership emblem...placed there by the original selling dealer. They used them in much the same way that dealerships use license plate frames today. In my small town, they would read: "Hoeck Chevrolet", "Kirkpatrick Ford", "Munsey Dodge", "Ragsdale Pontiac", etc. Just advertising...so, somewhere, somebody named Tasca owned a Ford dealership. Or, perhaps the dealership was named after the town it was in. Lisa, just about any of these cars would be welcomed if they pulled into a USA "cruise-in". The boss 302 mustang was interesting. Not as many of those sold as Z-28 Camaros...the Ford guys went more for the big block mustangs back then, when large displacement ruled. Anyway, a neighbor of mine has a boss 302...he's still looking for a pair of factory exhaust manifolds. The pink T bird? You need one of those in white! Get a blonde wig, and go cruisin'! ![]()

Great pics, Lisa!
And I am so envious of your climate. It is not fair. Us poor losers living up here in the dark, cold North. Sure, there is nothing better than the Scandinavian summer - if only it would last more than two months..

Paul,
Thanks - makes sense to be a dealer emblem - should have thought of that ![]() Me - a blond wig? Wow that would be a sight - I'd scare everyone off for sure ![]() Jim, I am a self-confessed novice when it comes to "American muscle" - thanks for the lesson about the "Boss car". Mock-up or not, she looked pretty darned good ![]() Markus, It was another beautiful day down here. Autumn is glorious in our neck of the woods; probably the very best of the seasons in Victoria (my favorite anyway). If it's any consolation; we haven't had decent rain for years - it's getting really serious; we're bucketing grey water out to the garden and I'm timing everyone under the shower! Everyone is talking about water recycling and water tanks - about time too. We've just moved into this house and the first thing to do is to set up the recycled water system and put a couple of tanks in. And then pray for rain and lots of it! See - we all have a price to pay - you have the "cold dark North" and we have next to no water! |

Eric,
Not on Sunday...but I can tell you that they are coming into their own again here. We've seen a few well restored and/or original in very good condition cars over the past couple of years. Numbers are thinning (of course)...but the enthusiasm for the ol' Aussie Fords and Holdens of the 60s and 70s is growing ![]() |

Awesome pictures, Lisa. Was this local a event? Where was it?
My father owned an original Phase II (back in the day), he bought it off my Uncle when it was approx 6 months old. Said it was a real weapon for that time. He often wishes he still owned it. ![]()

Hey Adam!
In our lovely little home town of Warragul....where we are an hour from the surf beach and an hour from the snow....where we eat ourselves silly on great Gippsland food and drink ourselves stupid on local wines and beer (Grand Ridge Brewery - yummy; no wonder I'm starting to get a little cuddly)...and the best damned roads you could wish for! We moved down there over New Year's and drive up to work each day - about an hour and a half weekdays; less on weekends if we really have the need to come up to Melbourne; which is rarely. We're loving it - kids are settled in new schools etc; playing lots of sport (it's a BIG sporting town); making new friends. It's GREAT! Population about 12,000 - but the town lacks nothing which I still find amazing. I'll bet your Dad would still love to own the Phase II - especially given their rise in collectibility - do you know a GT steering wheel can command about $3500?! And we think early Porsches are meeting the stratosphere price-wise... I had to take a Phase III HO from one of our shops to the other years ago - man I am no weakling but there was no way I could drive that thing at low speed. Couldn't foot the clutch hard enough and couldn't pull it out of first gear without using 2 hands! They're much easier to drive at 100mph + apparently...a bit difficult to do that in the middle of the city though ![]() |
