any Vets ?
went skien and had put my cat in a "cat hotel"
1 and half weeks now i got back, turns out he hasn't been eating well 2 days later , he pukes yellow, no chunks seems very inactive, just follows me and stays with me, doesn't play around , have crazy moments where he runs around like an idiot... can't notice much eating going on don't want to rush him around to with my car, as he didn't take well last time, the car and cat carrying thing alone is enough to stress him out even more, and possibly that's why he's acting weird??? he's only 2 years old, read about fatty liver thing, but that's usually only for old fat cats??this one was in good shape prior to the ordeal at the cat hotel... any tips or suggestions? |
Here in the U.S. just yesterday they recalled alot of cat food.
Cats were dying from eating the stuff. What did the boarder feed your cat? |
same brand he normally get's , Iams dry
****....found hte Iams website they do have the recall Cat Hotel did tell me they tried all sorts to get him to eat i'm calling them in the morning to find out if they gave him any wet Iams on a more positive note, he did react when i presented him with Beauvoorde Pate... it is very fatty though , i hope he keeps it down |
wow! I think they recalled IAMS here in the US
|
You should be safe with Iams dry. That's what we feed our cat and it isn't on the list. (Only canned foods from what I gather.)
He could have caught something from another cat... |

and was in a residence of his own... but yeah, it's no guarantee i'm just worried that he got the fatty liver from not eating, it sounds heavy when a read about it.... he does purr like a sowing machine when i pay attention to him.... would they purr if they are really sick?? i think cats would?? it's not like a dog who whines and whatnot |
Cats purr when they are in pain.
|
at least he keeps the pate down longer then 15 minutes... how long should he keep it down till i can consider it ... a success?
|
he puked overnight,
just went to the Vet he had lost 300 grams of body weight and was dehydrated no liver problems yet, so that's good slight fever and anorexic antibiotics fluids anti inflamation meds anti nasua meds apetite inducing meds and some goo directly in the stomach vet thinks he should be fine now poor little fella, he had like 4 big seringes of fluids injected below the skin of his shoulder blades...i'm sure it's good for him, but i'm equally sure it's not a pleasant experience... |
Stijn,
Hope the little fellow recovers. Sounds like an infection of some sort - not least judging by the medication. I am always amazed at the high level of health care given to pets. There seems to be almost the same resources available to diagnose and treat a hamster as a child. So, doesn´t she like a frisky ride in your 944? ;) |

considering that both his mum and dad are street punks, i'm surprised that "Bubba" is such a wuss then again, he's never been out of the house since i live in an appartement, this trip to the cat hotel was the first time, and from the results, probably not up for repetition... |
i am in the same boat...i fed my cats a pouch of special kitty duck and rice like 1 week ago. They seem fine, but we are taking them in tonight for a bhp blood test tonight, just to be safe. Hopefully their health insurance will cover it, if not I would rather be safe than sorry.
My wife and I cannot have kids, so they are like our children. We are really upset and scared about it. Their normal food is not on the recall thankfully . anyone here know about how long it akes for sypmtoms to appear if they are sick? been a week at least i think since they would have had the recalled food. Maybe i am just paranoid. |
i think kidney failure would have occured by now if your cat ate bad Iams... but that's not an educated comment, just guessing here
mine's not due to Iams, it's stress, not eating, which turns into anorexia, and ultimately liver damage either that or he caught something in that cat hotel , which would be covered by the antibiotics still hasn't puked since this mornign @ the vet, he's still a bit quiet, but has eaten a little cream cheese , and i've fed him some protein power kitty shake with a sirenge ( very challenging ) |
Wow... bummer....
Glad I feed my kids the all natural whoop tee do cat food and have a cat sitter when I'm out of town. Have you tried getting some cooked turkey or chicken breast? Chop it up and offer it to the cat... they almost never turn that down. |
so he was a bit more active this morning
and went all sluggish in the afternoon again which , i have to admit, is his MO anyway, but made it hard to figure out if he was still beeing sick or not but that's covered, he woke up , stretched out went to his grub, ate some and went to sit on the chickenwire fenced off balconny , to look at the surroundings... as if nothing happened... amazing how fast critters recover, last night and this morning i was fearing for his life, dehyrdated, puking, no zap in his movement, few shots and now he's all fine again... whatyoulookingat!? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1174493788.jpg |
