CCTV 900 MHz transmitter/receiver
 

Hi!

I have two of these:

I cannot get them to work. A few years ago, I did get the first set to work - even after I made a mistake and wired the receiver backwards and heard the PCB sizzle. Did not seem to do damage, as it worked after that. I put the system away for about 6 months, took it out to play with again and it has not worked since. There are no instructions with this thing, but I would think it is a no brainer.

Any help/ideas would be much appreciated. I am going nuts with this. SmileWavy

I dragged the equipment out once again and still can't get it to work. I have a friend interested in using this stuff - so am I! I have a few hundred tied up in this and it's only worked once. I have no instructions and I have googled until my eyes go googily.

Looks like an older Lorex model. Each transmitter/ receiver uses an A and V signal. These are normally user defined. If A is audio and it is switched to video the weather channel gives you snow and no sound. Also if the switcher is not setup you then have to hunt for a channel it defaults to. This is done thru the setup button which should scan any active signals and lock them in. Are there any DIP switch's on the wireless transmitter? The older units when multiple camera's are used need to have channels assigned otherwise all camera's broadcast on the same signal input and cancel each other out.

Jeff, on the receiver, there is no switch (other than on off). I think that the transmitters may be dead. I found a little info on the TX and it says it will get very hot during use. I left them plugged in to the wall for at least an hour and they were still cold. There is a setup button on the RX and it does seem to "scan", but never locks onto anything. The TX has dip switches on the back and can be set for four channels. The info I found said to leave them alone and that they were secured at the factory. I have been able to change the channels on one TX, but still nothing. I need a 900 Mhz scanner!

If you have a single camera on a transmitter then it should pickup a signal. Multiples and you will need to assign the DIP switches for each cam/transmitter.

If you have a laptop that is setup for wireless you can scan for a signal.

How is a laptop going to scan the 900 Mhz range?

If you have a laptop that is setup internally for wireless you can scan for networks from 802.11mhz up to 2.4ghz. An aircard won't work as it uses a narrow preset cellular band All you are looking for is a strong signal (close by) in the low 900 spectrum. The transmitter will show what frequency to look for on the label. You won't be able to connect because the laptop uses a channel identifier (1,2,3,a,b,c,d,g etc) but it can be used as a signal detector.
