not a Porsche but still a crime against humanity

Man arrested on suspicion of vandalizing a $55, 000 Lotus
By Leslie Parrilla

San Luis Obispo police arrested a man for allegedly vandalizing a Lotus at a local dealership.

Cory Martin, 26, was being held at County Jail in lieu of $10,000 for alleged felony vandalism.

Police said Martin was leaving his job around 11 p.m. Thursday when he walked by the Smith Volvo Lotus dealership on Monterey Street and reportedly shattered the driver’s side window and windshield of a Lotus with a rock, also denting the car estimated to be worth about $55,000. The dealership said the damage was at least $25,000.

Very possible. Even after repairs, the car is downgraded from "showroom new".

Lance: Still got your Malibu?
Vincent: Aw, man. You know what some ****er did the other day?
Lance: What?
Vincent: ****ing keyed it.
Lance: Oh, man, that’s ****ed up.
Vincent: Tell me about it. I had it in storage for three years, it was out for five days and some dickless piece of **** ****ed with it.
LanceThey should be ****ing killed. No trial, no jury, straight to execution.
Vincent: Boy, I wish I could’ve caught him doing it. I’d have given anything to catch that ******* doing it. It’d been worth him doing it just so I could’ve caught him doing it.
Lance: What a ****er!
Vincent: What’s more chicken**** than ****ing with a man’s automobile? I mean, don’t **** with another man’s vehicle.
Lance: You don’t do it.
Vincent: It’s just against the rules.

I guess he may have cracked the fibre glass rather than dented it. The front hood and trunk sections on an Elise are all one piece and referred to as clam shells perhaps that's the typically over priced (for anything made by Lotus) price for replacing an entire shell.

And yes the "perp" does indeed deserve a public flogging, maybe a ride in a witches ducking stool or possibly just a good old stoning for this!

Sounds like the way to get a deal on a car.

Stop by late one night, vandalize it then come back for when it's fixed.
