Darn weather... (rant)

Yesterday, rebuilding brake calipers on driveway, enjoying a clear sky and 79 degrees....

Today, sitting inside by the fireplace, watching the snow come down outside at 28 degrees...

I can't win!

Gene Wilkes 04-04-2007 10:45 AM

Same crap going on here in PA! Was 77 yesterday and the high today was at midnite 66 headed to 22 tonite! Snow called for the rest of the week! AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

notfarnow 04-04-2007 10:48 AM

Yep. I was headed for Montreal tomorrow to play with my father's (new to him) 86 Carrera Cab. Now it's calling for snow and rain, so I'm staying home.

:(

Syracuse, NY! God bless you man, you'll make it. Only 2 more months of winter for you.

Its terrible here in Arizona as well. Just at 88 degrees with a nice light wind, not a cloud in the sky.

Getting ready to take the motorcycle out for ride.... :)

many944s 04-04-2007 11:42 AM

Ok all, I'm taking up a collection for a ticket out to Arizona so I can personally brake Joe's legs. Who's in? :)

Just kidding,
Enjoy your weather, you couldn't pay to live out there in the summers!

88 degrees ? Man that sounds too hot to me! :D
Instead of installing a starter on your Aeronca, you need to figure out some kind of AC! :D

red-beard 04-04-2007 12:14 PM

Crap. It will barely reach 80 the rest of the week.

Folks back east...I do feel your pain, having lived (if you can call it that) in Roachester for a few decades.

88 degrees and 4% relative humidity is FAR different than 88 degrees and 90% humidity. Even the slightest breeze feels comfortably cool.

JavaBrewer 04-04-2007 12:25 PM

Bob and Joe, I'll bet you buy skin lotion and lip balm at Costco :) I was in Peoria last weekend and thankfully there were some thunder clouds and rain mixed in. It get's mighty DRY in Phoneix!

Bummer to you folks getting those big temperature/weather shifts. I thought high 50's and clouds sucked...

Moneyguy1 04-04-2007 12:33 PM

Dave:

Actually, no. What has happened is I plan any outside work for early mornings since even in the Summer the overnight temp drops 30 degrees or more, making even the hottest days start at 70 degrees or so. The dry is what makes it tolerable. I do remember "back east" that a day of 80 degrees could be intolerable due to the humidity. Only "Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun"!!

Phooeynix is a place I avoid at all costs (apologies to anyone living there). It is hotter than Tucson, more frantic and crowded. Reminds me af an east coast city plunked in the desert and no aware of the limitations on water and other resources.

Looks like my Saturday autox is going to be canceled due to the cold. And I just put my RA-1s on. Figures.

JavaBrewer 04-04-2007 12:39 PM

Yea I get how humidity messes with warm weather. Ever been to Korea in summer? :) What I'm saying is that everytime I go to AZ, and I love vacations there, is that I feel like sponge bob when he leaves the water. DRY. Retreating to AC hotel room does not help. DRY. Good excuse to drink more beer/wine though! Cheers!

I think you mean a "recovering" Utican. You can take the guy out of Utica, but you can't take the Utica out of the guy.

I'm at Dinosaur once a week for lunch (looking at it right now out the office window, in fact).

The worst part about Syracuse... is once the road gets clear, the work crews "spring into action" b/c the season to repair the roads is so short. The wheels are turning to get me TF out of New York State. It's a shame I have to leave Syracuse in order to leave NY.

I get a lot of lamentation or pity about living in Syracuse, but it's a great place. We had 9 weeks of winter this year -- 1/15 to 3/23. If we get snow that doesn't stick, as we're going to tonight, it's essentially just rain anyway and it's not like I'd be out on the bike or in the 930 in the rain.

Having spent extended time in a lot of places in this country, I could not live in either Miami (or most of Floriduh) or AZ. But I can more-or-less understand why some people would want to live in those places. Then again, I can also more-or-less understand why some people would watch the View. :p

However, there is one particular town in Texas represented hereon is my least favorite city in the US... I could suffer through most other places, but not there. I'll never understand why someone would want to live there as opposed to anywhere, anywhere else.
