USPS - Postal Services is cheapest but slowest.
UPS rapes & pillages as it crosses the border. We use Fedex grd for business & it is very efficient but I don't know the rates etc since we're a bulk account. Ian

Your best bet is to use USPS. I order alot of stuff from the states and Pelican and we Canadians get r@ped by both fedex and ups as they sometimes charge up to 20% of the value of the goods which they call a "handling fee" to bring the items across the border. USPS is much more reasonable. Pelican tries to ship everything USPS to Canada as they are aware of this extra charge.

+1 on USPS. Not the fastest, but sure beats getting hit with up to a 30% brokerage fee from UPS, which is currently facing a class action suit over the issue:
UPS sued for hidden brokerage fees

Please dear god do not ship across the border with UPS, unless you really dislike the person you're shipping to. The rate difference is worth the wait, always go with USPS!

My vote for USPS. Every time I get something from UPS I wind up paying $50-$100 for a brokerage fee.
