Badge etc removal from new car

Given both of my P-cars now have full roll cages, I'm thinking of buying a newish car for everyday use and towing the 911's to the track etc.

A lot of them have a bunch of emblems, badges etc on the boot (trunk?) lid, fenders etc. which I don't care for.

Any tips on how best to remove them? (and not leave marks etc) Is there any products that help? Should I leave it to a pro detailer?

Ps. This is quite a weird step for me as, apart from a Datsun 1600 (510), I've never owned a sedan (or anything remotely sensible)

Easy answer: Most are affixed these days with a strong double-stick tape. Use a heat gun (or a hair dryer) ... heat up the emblem, then use a length of fishing line behind the emblem, gently moving in a "sawing motion"...then just clean off any residual adhesive. (the 1st thing I did to the wife's Infiniti G35...cleaned up the look greatly).

Use some fishing line or dental floss. Use it like a saw to remove the emblem. It will cut the doublesided tape in half. To get the half off that's stuck to the deck lid use "Goof Off". It won't hurt the paint. Then use some light compound to clean the paint and wax.

Using the fishing line method will work without heat. I don't like putting heat on paint. Murphy say's leave the heat on a second too long and it will bubble.

I used this method when replacing the RS America emblems on my RSA.

The "Good Off" will melt the Porsche plastic emblems. I used acetone with a small sharpened piece of wood to remove the double sided tape remains from the emblem. Time consuming, but didn't destroy the emblem.

Good Luck, Don
