Duke Rape charges dismissed Just announced that the criminal cases in the Duke rape case have been dropped. "They are innocent" was the announcement. Now how long for them to get their lives and reputation back? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,265187,00.html Nifong was called a "rogue prosecutor"... |

Nifong needs some punishing, as does the girl that filed the original complaints... |

Fortunately for the real victims here, I don't think it will take long for them to get their lives and reputations back. I don't think anyone outside of a very fringe element has taken the charges very seriously for a while now. Hopefully they can get some book/movie deals or something to help compensate them for what was done to them. |

If I were one of those kids, I would be suing Nifong and the girl! They need to get back thier Reputation, thier lives and the friggen money they spent on defense. |

Waiting to hear if "Rhymin' Man" Jesse is stioll going to go through with the "Don't strip...scholarship" offer....;) |

I have felt from the start that the three young men were innocent. My wife, on the other hand, was ready to lynch them from day one. There should be a countersuit, just to show people that you can't just make up a story, and carry it this far with no consequenses. |

Don't forget, Bruther Al is still paying for his part in the Tawana Brawley mess. And yes, she literally was a lying bag of fecal matter. |

I predict that the stripper errrrrrrrrrrrr, coed will be rehabilitated in the press. Look for a follow up story months from now where she will have righted the ship and is on her way to a degree in sociology and is doing community service (maybe or maybe not involving a brass pole). Also, it will come out that there was "strong forensic evidence" that her drink was spiked or some such nonsense effectively absolving her of culpability in the incident. Meanwhile, Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson will continue to father illegitimate children and look for the next Imus or Tawana Brawley or Dennys phot op - rooting out racism wherever and if ever it exists (or not). |

This is what scares me about being a college-aged middle class white guy in this day and age. If I get accused of anything of this sort, even if I am completely innocent, my whole life is f*cked. And it just keeps getting worse |

'Bout time sanity prevailed. Too bad it took our top cop to make it so. I do like the idea of the State Supreme Court being empowered to remove out of control prosecutors. Nifong is a blight on our judicial system, and it is my earnest hope that he reaps what he has sown, and not just in the possibility of his being disbarred. People in everyday life have been sued for far less, and have paid a great price for their error. This is one "error" that does not deserve to be overlooked! I wonder if lawyers carry malpractice insurance? As far as the "accuser," even without her name or likeness being made public, she has had her 15 minutes of fame; it remains to be seen if the laws in NC will allow her name to be used now that the charges have been dismissed, and dismissed in the strongest possible terms. Of course, our AG has stated that there will be no charges filed by his office, but I would encourage these young men to "go after her" with every legal remedy they have available, as it seems to those concerned that these men actually DO have a case, something their the accuser did not! |

I see that her name & picture has been released....;) |

There was a guy on the radio today who lived in the same town. He had run against Nifong for office a while ago. He was thrown in jail for 6 months on some trumped up charges and he now drives a truck over the road to stay away from the area so Nifong cannot bother him. "Run amok" is a kind way to describe this guy and he needs to be put away for a long time. |

What can these kids hope to gain by suing her? Even if it is a suit based on principle, it'll just run up their legal bills. |

Fox reported their legal fees are over 1mill each. And they are going to sue and expect to win millions. And the taxpayer will foot that bill. |

As an ex-laxer, I'm glad to see these three guys (legally) freed. Unfortunately, their reputations have taken a beating, which will remain permanently. And while it's just a game, I also feel for the rest of their teammates who lost out on a year of their athletic careers. Nobody wins (except for maybe the defense counsel). |

I'd like to see them prevail in lawsuits against anybody & everybody involved in accusations and their prosecution. I'd also like for them to step up to the plate & say something about the racial persecution they suffered at the hands of the Jesse & Al race hater crowd. |

On the way to work today, I wondered if Nifong would have carried this to the end of the process, pushing for convictions or if he would have done a poor job at trial, hoping for acquittals and clearing his conscience. How can he look in the mirror to shave every day? The 3 players should sue him, the city, the county and the stripper for 100's of millions of dollars. Whether they see a dime or not, a victory will send a strong message to other prosecutors. Personally, I think Nifong should be removed from the bar and charged criminally under any applicable statutes. He should get a taste of what he set the players up for, including prison rape. No wonder so many have little faith in the system. |
