WTF, Turbo Tax has never totalled my donations correctly?!?!
I'm finishing up my taxes and I noticed something strange, Turbo Tax is showing more charitable donations than what I entered! At first I thought it somehow added the $500 non cash donations to the cash donations, but it didn't, even adding in an extra $500 it's still off by a few dollars.
So I went back and checked the last two years where I've used Turbo Tax. Wholly crap, they don't match either! What's going on here? |
I have had some issues with importing my 1099's from my brokerage into turbotax. The first time I did it, the amount was almost twice what it should have been. I rolled back the import and did it again, and this time only a few transactions got messed up. I don't know if its turbotax of my broker's statements imports being corrupted. I have wasted countless hours trying to figure out where the screw up was. If there weren't so many transactions, I would have just done it by hand. There are pages and pages, so any bit of automation is welcome.

I like our tax lady. I give her a huge box of invoices, and my bank statements, and she does the rest.:D

My wife sees a lot of people who have gotten hosed with Turbo Tax. She has a tax and accounting practice.

if your non-cash was over $500 you would have filled out an 8283 which details your donations. IF you put the amount in BOTH places (the 8283 & the sch. A) it may the adding both. Our high dollar tax software does the same.
