Don Imus gets fired...what BS!!!
CBS has fired Don Imus and removed his show from the airwaves due to protests from Al Sharpton and such. Now, I don't listen to Imus and frankly never heard of him before now.
CBS also owns rap and hip hop stations. MUCH more racist, sexist, and misogynist things are said over the airwaves every day. Where's the outrage? Why isn't Al Sharpton marching at rap and hip hop stations? Oh, that's right, it's only PC to be racist, sexist, and misogynist if you're non-white. |
Do you really think this is the place for that discussion? Not. Let's stick to Porsche.

Yep, I posted in the wrong forum...my bad.

no big loss. The guy is about as entertaining as watching slugs f**k
|
CBS did this because all their advertisers backed out.. it's not about the morals. it's about the money.
he's been there saying similar things for many many years. ever catch CBS prime-time lately?... so much blood, sex, and violence. Which does more harm to our society, "nappy headed hoes" or the trash on prime-time tv every night? |
I can think of a lot worse racist remarks than that...and he gets fired for it. Wow. The times, they are a-changing...

They allow the rap singers to say anything that they want to, Jesse and Al can do anything they want to, but when a white boy slips up and says the same words that the black boys say all the time, its bad juju. Sorry, I just voted with my money. |
Imagine if Imus flashed his titty as part of the superbowl halftime show? The control freaks would just spin right out of control into another dimension.

Lots of hysteria, not many facts.
Imus lost his job because he lost his sponsors. |
CBS was looking for an excuse to dump the over-the-hill has been.

Really. Much ado about nothin'. Interesting was the research about how many businesses had "nappy" in their name. Largely beauty shops catering to AA's. And then there's "ho." 1000's of uses everywhere. I've been hearing that word for 2 dozen years.
What's the big deal here? I never cared much for Imus, but he's been around a long time and said some clever things. I don't listen to any talk radio to speak of, so I'm far from qualified. However, I think this is the one time that things are blown out of proportion. If I were Imus, I'd retire, write a book and tell everyone to F-off. |
Yes, tech, but the reasons those sponsors pulled out are representative of a ridiculous PC culture. Doesn't matter whether CBS fired him or their sponsors did, same problem really. Those same sponsors advertise on CBS's hip hop stations, no? Radio ads are usually sold in a package that span stations.

It ain't the first time he got fired. He will just go to XM and make a fortune.
He should have told them during his interviews that he said what he said, get over it and if you don't like it, don't listen. You have your gig and I got mine. He lost his nut sometime ago. |

Meanwhile, Jackson and Sharpton still haven't apologized for their character assassination of the three Duke students.
