So How Long Will It Take To Organize a Country Wide Display of Media Frustration?

I say a bunch of us contact all the folks we have contact with and have contact all the folks they have contact with and so on and so on and so on with the goal to send the media a signal.

A complete boycott of all media. Papers, TV, Radio and the web. For a whole day. The reason? Becuase the media has been a contributing factor of the wussifacation of these United States, they have become unreasonable in their coverags of rediculous topics (see Anna Nicole...) and they have enable rediculous political posturing.

While we are at it, how about a day long stoppage of buying and travel as well. A day at home.

We have a pretty strong demographic here.

What would it take? Are ya in?

Eider your wit me or agin me!!!

BlueSkyJaunte 04-13-2007 03:29 PM

teenerted1 04-13-2007 03:47 PM

count me out.

but i will boycott FOX news, or any of the entertainment shows, if you like

i like being informed. but i tend to filter my new sources.

watch BBC, CBC, PBS, and local cable news cast. and tend to get the rest directly form AP.

if Anna Nicole story comes, its straight to ESPN for me:)

"There was a time, a time before cable. When the local anchorman reigned supreme. When people believed everything they heard on TV. This was an age when only men were allowed to read the news. And in San Diego, one anchorman was more man then the rest. His name was Ron Burgundy. He was like a god walking amongst mere mortals. He had a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo. In other words, Ron Burgundy was the balls."

Will I have to get off my couch?

red-beard 04-13-2007 04:47 PM

Can we use guns that day?

Hawktel 04-13-2007 07:49 PM

Everyone in this country votes with the pocketbook every day on what media they want to see.

Rosie, Imus, Stern, pick your own talking head, they are all there because someone watchs them.

I just use the off switch, TV is off in this house until 8:00 PM...it goes off again at 11. Pretty easy, really. No organized boycott needed. Just make a personal decision to make your television "for entertainment purposes only".... I don't need a perky Katie or a Dan Blather to tell me what to think.

When is the last time you could get 10 people to agree on anything?

VINMAN 04-14-2007 04:15 AM

I've already sent out my letters of protest to CBS, MSNBC, Proctor and Gamble and all others involved.

I like Red-beards gun idea! :D

They're just filling a demand.

We have nobody to blame in this mess but ourselves. If people stop demanding such drivel and stupidity (and paying for it), they'll stop providing it.

We should be looking at ourselves and our neighbors, not the media.

"Yor world delivered" sounds to me like "you'll eat what's on your plate and like it mister".

The sensationalisatic liberal media is a product of our growing unsophisticated, uninformed bleeding heat liberal tree hugger population.
Get rid of them and the media will straighten up. And I will thank you. Maybe even a gift or two. Seriously, go for it. I'll take up a collection.

bigchillcar 04-14-2007 09:06 AM

make a list of these key advertisers. not everyone is going to know who to write/boycott.

scottmandue 04-14-2007 09:55 AM

It's all Clinton's fault!

Problem is, the majority of people (even the smart ones) just don't bother putting up a fuss. I was talking to few guys at a party the other night and proposed the idea. They were all for it. But lets face it, it won't happen. Even on this thread we have different opinions - some folks blame the people, others blame the left and still those who make money online think that the idea is somewhat misguided. Ah, so be it...

We'll just keep on keep'n on.

Yeah. The media sucks. TV, that is, since cable went big time.

Who's making the big bucks these days? The answer is CEOs and anybody connected to TV: Ballplayers, talk show yo-yos, news anchors. And their bosses, of course. And the rock and movie stars--more media. Making millions, while doctors, dentists, lawyers, scientists and most everybody else are making comparative peanuts.

TV controls politics and sports. Advertising controls TV.
