				Anyone here ever used classmates.com?

I've been using classmates.com to try and get in touch with people I've gone to school with, been stationed with, etc... and it's pretty cool. I'm not affiliated with the service in any way, just a user but I'm very happy with the results thus far and wanted to know if anyone else has tried it.

I signed up to try to track down 2 friends I had in high school. What I found was all the irritating A-holes from high school carrying on Al Bundy style about how high school was the best years of their life. They seemed to be stuck there and not wanting to leave.

It kind of depressed me to see so many people stuck in that rutt. I got a couple of e-mails from some people I could not even remember but they seemed to remember me really well. I exchanged a couple of e-mails with them and they kind of faded away. I could not find the 2 people I was looking for and let my membership expire.

Someone from my highschool set up a website where everyone can go for info on reunions and find out what everyone's up to. It's pretty cool and you don't have to pay fees or deal with all the advertisment crap. Once a year they organize a reunion for everyone at a Houston bar. I went once and didn't find it to be my thing, but it's still cool that they do it.

I've found it helpful as far as getting information about class reunions. Especially since I live out-of-state and I'm not in touch with most of my HS classmates.

Aside from that I don't use it for much.

Not much need as there was only 28 of us. 35th reunion was last year, close to twenty came (and a couple within fifty miles didn't). I think they decided to meet every three years instead of five, next one at a casino near Omaha.

It's not just for finding old classmates because I've been using it fo find guys I was stationed with at various places from '82 -'91 when I was in the Navy. It's pretty amazing!

I have two messages on Classmates that I can't read because I haven't paid the fee. Maybe I should to see who is trying to contact me.

If you are looking for old military buddies, try www.military.com My Brother was in the USN in the '50's and we were talking about the time he spent on a carrier off the shores of Korea. I logged onto Military.com and found three of his old shipmates, and one who was in his squadron. One week and two messages and they were in touch! I pay classmates their fee every 5 years or so and look for old friends or do it on a monthly basis if their are messages waiting for me.

Thanks! military.com lets you look up one name at a time, but classmates.com lets you enter the branch, base, dates server, etc... then comes up with a list of others also in their database, which is cool because I've forgotten alot of these names, but when I see them again, it sparks my memory...

When this Policeman says, "what kind of degerate behavior is goin on in there boy." An I said, "what does it look like Jeeters havin a smoke." The Policeman said the funniest thing, "Didn't U see the NO SMOKING sign?"

Did you ever think there is a reason you have kept in touch with certain high school classmates and why you haven't for others. High School does some pretty weird things to people. Strange phenomena I see lately is Divorcee's on the second go around getting back together with high school sweethearts and then getting married. For me, high school was a nice time and I still have a few very close friends. But I have more in common with employee's and neighbors.
