Well I was not alive in the 50's, but the 70's and even early 80's were better than now in regards to most of the items in the original post. WTF does race have to do with reminiscing about a time where kids could be kids and the term "politically correct" was not invented yet?

Naw, if you feel guilty that's your psyche at work. I have no agenda to transfer anything. I'm not saying you should feel guilty, I'm saying we all should remember the 50's (and any other time) for how they really were in total. It's like remembering the 40's for Swing music and forgetting to mention WWII.
