NY Weather report?
 

Watching the late night news here...stories of storm surge in NY...wondering if RoninLB is doing okay. Any NY guys have details on how Long Beach is doing? TV here said 3-5' storm surge. :eek:

I'm sure Ron is fine. He's lived down there a long time and knows how to prepare for this stuff.

This storm was a bit hyped.

We've had worse.

10 years ago the boards would be in the Chevette and I'd be off to those special places that only break when it gets over 15 feet.

street level is about 6' above mean high. Water was just starting to rise above my storm drains and a few patches of flooded streets in town.


No striped bass fishing in the streets this time.

Maybe by you. Tell that to the people with several FEET in their basements and garages. Central Park had over 7" yesterday by midnight Sunday. The Bronx River Parkway is now a part of the Bronx River.

When the Weather Channel is broadcasting from a town or two away, you know it is bad.

It sucked up here, big time.

We just have wind gust up to 50MPH down here, scattered power outages and a few fallen trees that landed on cars.

One minivan had a Mom & child inside but their ok.

If you look at the average murder and accident rate - with everyone staying home all weekend, this storm saved lives. Good thing for global warming..

North Jersey got hit pretty bad too. Last night, I had water seeping through a crack in my garage floor. Tried to get a sump pump to help, but all the Home Depots were closed, including the Secaucus store that I thought would be open 24 hours. Driving in that stuff at 11:00 at night wasn't pretty. I kept thinking, "So far so good - haven't hit any major flood on my route. But am I going to be able to make it back home!?!?"

Turns out my water seepage issue was the result of a crack that developed between the asphalt of the driveway and the threshold to my garage. A tarp and a couple of bricks stopped the water temporarily. Once we dry out sufficiently, I'll get filling that crack with tar/crack sealer...
