Did Someone Get a Ridiculous Bargain?!?
I have always wanted a 550 Spyder, real or replica, so sometimes I look around at classifieds...
Well, this morning I came across this listing from 2005: http://www.carsearch.com/785647.htm $7500? God, I wish I saw this two years ago...

Still, it doesn't seem very original. Weren't there only around 200 made?

The ad admits as much: "COACHWORK IS RENDERED IN FIBERGLASS" D-OH!

But a Beck 550 for $7500 would be a steal, and a great car too.

Was probably a typo missing a 1, should probably be $17,500.
It also doesn't say it's a Beck replica, there are other replicas that are nowhere near as good as a Beck. |

Hmm, I do remember that the originals DEFINITELY didn't have fiberglass bodywork (aluminum, non?), but there were two 550s built from the factory with VW engines, IIRC.
Still, if the ad says "original factory" I think it should be a real one. Buyer beware, I guess.

Yes, the real deal has an aluminum body...
