I didn't see those VT Campus Police rushing into that building. I saw a bunch of them standing around, while little Cho was poping off people like targets in a shooting gallery. . Napoleon always said go to the sound of the guns.
So if U think the police are there to protect you GUESS AGAIN... The Police will protect you...is the BIG LIBERAL LIE... Guns in the hands of people keep them FREE! |
having known a couple of secret service agents, who were hired after JFK in dallas, and worked all the way through the reagan era, you kinda get some insight into bad minds.
NOONE i mean NOONE is impervious to a determined shooter unless prepared. prepared meaning EVERY worst case thought out, and then a correction for that worst case in effect. when a prez or anyone (VIP) goes somewhere, the amount of planning months before trip is astounding, if not mind boggling! my secret agent amigos detailed what went into just a lunch, and it was impressive. let alone a trip to hostile bagdad. agents have EVERY SHOT ANGLE COVERED by agents that are armed. buildings closed off to everyone. all windows closed on building. agents in crowd. agents everywhere. helo on standby. full auto everything including stingers. they are not messing around. 2 months before a trip agents investigate every known suspect, check whereabouts etc. route is chosen carefully. residence or hotel chosen carefully etc. now tell me since we have had what seems a rash of this shooting crap on campus, why were not plans in place for just such an instance???? will it happen again????................YOU BET! why? because the nutcase will go out in blaze of glory due to media frenzy. bottomline they want attention. will we pass gun laws to outlaw .22 and 9mm "student-killer" bullets............sure we will. will we pass more laws because of this? sure we will. WILL IT STOP THE NEXT ONE? HELL NO IT WONT! the only method is having armed campus cops, armed teachers, and armed civilians if they want to be armed. is it a pain in the ass for me to carry all the time(and i mean ALL THE TIME)..........you bet! but it will be more of a pain in the ass when the crap goes down and all i have is a pencil my notebook or my school chair as a weapon! |
Police are there to clean up the mess and take the report. That's all you can ever be sure of. You may get lucky and have one there when you need one. But the SCOTUS has ruled they don't even have an obligation to protect individuals, just society at large.

Without demeaning the senseless, terrible event in VA it struck me that 30 dead innocent people amounts approximately to the number of innocent killed in any average, daily, terror suicide bombing in Iraq. Every day.
Interesting how some tragedies donīt seem to touch us emotionally as much as others. Certainly, the closer to home, the worse it gets. Still, they are all innocent victims. Lives taken for no reason. Lives worth ever so much to their loved ones, be it in US, Iraq, Afghanistan or else where. Asymmetric emotional response syndrome - AERS. |
Livi, good observation.
All of us here in the US are horrified by this. And as more information comes out, it does appear that there were warning signs. This guy seems to have in common with most of the other murders like this: A loner, anti-social, other problems before the evnt. |

NOW Money if U want to PAY MORE IN TAXES to increase the BATF budget head on if it makes you feel safer. There are plenty of laws on the books both state and federal. Most of them are designed to be add on charges in case your busted for something else. That means nobody is going looking for illegal Assualt Weapons in CA. |

When Grey Davis (D) was elected Govenor of CA a whole host of new Gun Laws were enacted. When the State Legislature proposed even more gun laws, Grey said don't pass them, lets wait and see how the laws that were just passed work. However the Legislature didn't heed his advice and tried to pass even more gun laws.

I agree with everything else you stated. |
Our little friend Cho snapped and he just didn't care anymore what happened, he had enough, and wasn't going to take it anymore. He wasn't going to be a passive doormat anymore, suffering in silence, he was going to put a stop to it...with any means at his disposal.
Now what the "IT" was I don't know. Probably not getting the Grades, or recognition he felt he deserved, probably wishing he had spoken up, but was fustrated with his inability to. That inward pressure of his probably made his GF uneasy with him. When she finally wanted to break it off, he snapped. He just had no more room to bend or adapt, and became mindlessily fixated with one thing, striking back. |

OK, I understand what you mean.
I saw some footage of a cop in full SWAT gear drinking coffee and standing next to his car. I'm sure that clip will be shown over and over. |
So this kid's parents own a dry cleaners in DC. What do you think they are feeling right now?

Has anyone been able to make out from the various hysterical media reports what actually happened? Was the first shooting where the man and woman were killed in the dorm related to the masacre at the class building? Has anyone said who the "person of interest" was and why he was interesting?
|
Police have said the same gun was used in the earlier shootings.
The pictures shown of the pistols, It looked like a Sig for the 9mm, not sure who made the .22 |
According to TIME, the 9mm was a Glock (I was sure I saw Sig on the side of the grip) and the .22 was a Walther P22
