Eh...is this for real? (video)
|
Yes, I've seen that before...
and yes, this is the country I live in. It's real. All toooooooooooooooooooooooooo real. And before anyone gets too testy... I love living in America. Sad, all the same. |
I am starting to worry about you guys! :D
Is this the typical citizens in the country with the most nuclear power in the world ??? As of today my bunker digging project is officially in progress. :D |
Face it. Ask enough people you are bound to get 5 minutes worth of stupid answers to edit into a video.
I'm sure there were plently of people who said things like "Dude, your maps wrong" when it has Australia labelled as 'IRAN' or 'NORTH KOREA'. But it wouldn't be funny to show those would it. That said, it never ceases to amaze me how ignorant some people can be and how many of them there are. Like some one said the other day, 50% of people are below average intelligence. |

My 11 year old daughter would have known most of the correct answers. Gotta admit, mislabeling Australia was pretty funny. |
Agree with Aerkuld. First of all, yes there are idiots in America, just like there are idiots in Europe. If you film enough people you will find enough footage to splice together 5 minutes of film. I'm sure I could do the same thing if I spent a day in a European city asking about North American geography or the names of our leaders.
I did find it funny that many of the shots are from right here in good old San Antonio (anyone notice the Alamo in the background). |
Coalition of the Willing? Hell even I didn't know that...
Switching up Australia with Iran and Korea? Brilliant. :D ..so let the Europeans sit back and chuckle into their baguette, scone, biscuit, etc.. though at the stupid Americans while we enjoy a (on average) higher standard of living. I'd rather be fat dumb and happy than.... |
I suspect you could go on any major campus in the US and get basically the same responses! But ask them how to text message or how to use a cell phone and I think they will come thru! ;-)

Members of this board are completely different, right? Except one member just posted that until recently the last book he read in his life was Super Fudge in fourth grade. The book that broke his steak was a collection of two to three page biographies of notorious serial killers. So perhaps any large group has many variations of members and it's hard to make generalizations from viewing a small sampling.

LMAO... i enjoy laughing at those videos as much as the ones who are making them. stupid people are everywhere. there are idiots in every country. if you have a larger population, you will find more idiots.
one telling aspect of the vid was where most of the interviews took place... looked like a boardwalk (venice beach maybe?)- not known for its intelligetia... think i saw d.c.- very touristy areas... packed w/ 'middle-of-the-america' types of americans.... the same ones that were utilized so effectively in top gear's vids ;) what possible result could you get from asking a skewed population these questions? sadly, college campuses are not filled w/ geniuses either. |
I admit that there are a lot of Americans who are sadly ignorant to the goings-on of the world around them... but something tells me that the folks making this video have the benefit of EDITING. Do you really think that EVERY American they asked on the street was this stupid? Of course not. It's the same thing you see on Leno or Letterman once every couple weeks.

Great,
First I fail an email test from a buddy called. "Are you smarter than a 5th grader". (65%) (taken from the Jeff Foxworthy show) Now I see this. boy are we dumb :D |
Its a funny video in some respects, but those people who did answer that way were just ******* idiots. Also good touch on them including a what looked to be a homeless guy who had mental problems. His answers were really insightful
