Anyone used "Sealcrete" for driveway repair?
My driveway has begun to have a serious spalling problem. The top layer is flaking off like crazy, even washing the car will remove the flaky layers. Underneath the spalling the concrete appears to be structurally very sound -- no cracks or holes. The driveway is only four years old. I've received various suggestions as to why the spalling has occurred -- and now I've begun the bid process to repair the driveway (which is approximately 30'x30'). One company is proposing to use a scarifier and then power wash the driveway. Afterward, use the "sealcrete" to add back the top layer. Anyone have experience here? Thanks. -- Bob

Those "sierra stone" (that's a brand name I see in these parts) type colored, exposed aggregate finishes are taking over my 30 yr old neighbourhood. They look really, really nice and seem to stand up well, even through the ugly freeze-thaw winters we get around here.
Every second driveway around me seems to have them now. I think I'd go with that kinda finish if I had to resurface my concrete. . |

The bid I was given was $1,700 to resurface and replace the top coat for approximately 600 square feet of work. All straightforward stuff, nothing fancy. Another company wants $6,000 to remove and replace the entire existing concrete driveway. I have no idea how that compares....
