OT thinking of buying a 4 dr. sedan.

Ok ok , I know four door's bummer , but it has come time to buy something to haul four adults in for dinner and what not.

I am currently looking a Volvo S60 R with the Evolve performance package.

If you are not familiar with this piece of iron it is not your granny's Volvo.

370 HP from a I-5 KKK Turbo'ed plant
390 Ft Pd of torque
18" Z rated wheel / tire set up
Brembo's
AWD with selective suspension
Six Speed Manual

Anyone have one of these please chime in.

Todd

Not sure on your space requirements, but check out the Lexus IS 350, and the Infinity G35.

Early next year, Lexus will be releasing and the IS-F. 400hp V8 with sub 5 second 0-60 times.

What about a used BMW 530?

Nice used M5? They can be had for $30-40K with less than 30,000 miles.

I bought a MazdaSpeed3 in February. It has 263hp, 280ft/lbs or torque and with the sport Pkg, it was $21,600 and I'm very, very happy with it. The MazdaSpeed6 may be a good fit for your needs.

Hey HardD and AZ thanks for the iinput, the Lex , Infi and Mazda's are great car's but I am trying to stay away from the Japanese imports.

GP have been looking at the used BMW scene they are hard to find with the 6 speed tranny in the regular cars and the M's are a little more than I want to spend right now.

The Volvo R is a decent buy in the used car market right now, depending on the year 04-06 they start under 20K based on condition and mileage, with the Evolve package add another 3.5K they top out for 06's used around 30K with no miles on them.

Any Volvo owners out there ???

I am also in the market for a 4 door sedan. The Volvo S60 is too tight in the back for adults in my opinion. I actually have a Lexus salesman asking if I want to put money down on a IS-F and I'm thinking of doing so. I'm not even going to post a picture of it because its avante guard styling will be quickly shot down here. The BMW 5 Series is a nice size to fit adults in the back. I'd say a used 530, especially with what their CPO cars offers is a great choice. Get the sport package.

What do you have against Japanese imports. When I bought my last new car(actually first new car) I narrowed it down to an Integra GSR sedan, a Maxima and an Audi. I liked the AWD, but I banked on Honda reliability and have been rewarded. 140,000 miles and 10 years with no surprises at all. Has 4 round headlights that grew on me, plenty damn sporty too.

How often will you have rear seat passengers?

Tobra - As I said in my reply Lex, Infin, Mazda and what have you are great car's I just don't want another Japanese car, it is just a personal choice, I have had good luck with both Mazda (RX7 twin turbo) and Acura (NSX) in the past just don't want another one right now.

I do not have rear seat passengers often, I think the S 60 is about the same interior size as a 3 Series BMW.

Most here will probably pitch a fit, but I would venture to say "take a look at a domestic". I have been very happy with my GTP. It is older than what you are looking at, but it has never had any problems. More than enough room in the back, leather, HUD, ect. If you are looking at a new one, check out the GXP. V8 with variable displacement giving it into the mid 20's for gas mileage. I have a friend with one. They are nice cars for a good price.

Wife has a Volvo XC90, good rig seems to be well built but we have only had it for less than a year. I would not mind getting a V70R sometime in the future... How about a 4dr E36 M3? Pretty cheap these days.

You owe it to yourself to look at a BMW 335i. Fantastic car.

We bought a used BMW sedan a few years ago and love it.

The old notion of the ugly sedan is gone. They are now as sporty and (almost as) good looking as the coupes.

'Tis all a matter of personal taste. I just sold my '94. I think it has a very lyrical, classical, styling that's absent from modern BMWs. The styling hints at the fabulous lines of the Bavaria that my father owned 30+ years ago.

I'm currently driving a GXP. 303hp V8 and 24 mpg average overall. Quite fast, and an effortless cruiser. However, I'm guessing that someone that considers an S60R would never look at a GXP.

I bought a 'beater' '97 GP GTP that I sold last summer with 267K miles; original engine/trans/supercharger. Great car, no problems. Go figure.

With your restrictions I would probably get a 5 door R32 or GTI VW or an Audi S4.

Have never been a big fan of Volvo's. Have a friend who has been an import(strictly euro) wrench for 20 years. He has the carpal tunnel syndrome from adjusting valves on 914's to prove it. He tells me that Volvo's suck to work on, as though they were designed with frustrating later mechanics in mind

I know it doesn't meet your country-of-origin requirements, but I just bought this as a daily driver. Smooth, quiet, fast, comfortable, easy on the eyes and reliable as a brick. 30 mpg on the highway is a bonus:

I've become close to giving up the used car search for a sedan and might give me deposit for an IS-F. 425hp and less then 5 seconds 0-60. My kids should love ride from the backseats!
