Pics: Done with 2-year Garage upgrade
Well, it has been a long 2 years building an addition on our house, but part of it involved converting the old one-gar garage to living space and building a new side-entry 2-car garage with high ceilings and a loft over the door. 14-foot ceilings were necessary due to the elevations to make the room above line up with the house. I did almost all the work myself after the framing and exterior were done, which is a big part of why I have been away from this forum.
Nothing like some of the garages I have seen and researched here, but I am looking forward to using the space to catch up on 2 years of deferred maintenance and upgrades as well as to repair some of what leaving the cars outside has done. I drive my 82 SC every day and just put gas and oil in it...that is part of what I love about these cars! Come to think of it, I think most of the "extras" in the garage were funded by the fact that I have not been able to spend much more on my cars other than for gas and oil and emergency repairs! Olivier Old 1-car garage (in an especially messy state): ![]() Shots of the new garage, where almost everything has a place...I am researching 4-post lifts for the bay on the right...the left bay is making maximum use of the high ceilings (I still need to hang a Jeep hard top up there somewhere...I feel like I work in the Air and Space Museum with all the rigging I have been doing on the ceiling...what is hard to see in the pictures is the extension ladder that is stored so it also functions as stairs to the 8x16 loft) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some construction shots: ![]() ![]()

Very Nice! Looks like you have the clear height to install a lift...just need to close the roll up when the car is raised!
I live in an apt. right now...street parking only...can't wait to buy a garage, with a house. For now I use my dad's place. (Lot's of space to work, and he's got a lift! Glad he's 5 min. away!) Great addition! Cheers, Cooper

Beautiful! I'll be building a new garage this summer. Mine will be 24' x 20' and is detached from the house and opens to the alley... Yours looks great!

If the Motronic acts up you can always threaten it with the sword.

That is beautiful. Women always talk about their "dream kitchen" remodeling, but men, yes, that's right, we talk about dream garages ... and we're serious. That's nice -- I like the checkered floor pattern, and the organized walls.

Very nice!! I'm counting the days (11) til I'm all moved into my new garages. A lift should fit in your new space quite nicely! Isn't it nice to move around the garage without the fear of "bumping" or "scratching" the cars!
