wow.....do you eat beets?
man, love those things. still can't get used to the "side effects". i think i scared the man in the next urinal... :D
|
Yep!
Yep,
Our family eats beets and asparagus! My wife makes a killer borscht and we like asparagus on the grill with our steaks a=nd baked potatos. We don't even mind the "side effects"! |
FWIW there are yellow/golden beets that don't quite have the same side effects, plus I like their flavor a little better. Just bought some at Whole Foods today.

If you've ever been introduced to a kidney stone you will soon learn to tread lightly with beets, asparagus and nuts. These things are OK eats, but not that good that they're anywhere near worth that kinda pain.
Indulge with moderation, as with anything. |
mmmmmmmm, pickled beets. with onions.

Honestly, I don't think I have ever eaten a beet.
I've eaten yams, is that close? |
No, yams are yummy, beets don't taste terrible but they have the texture of rotten fish.
|
try putting beet slices in with pickled eggs gives it a great color

I take it you guys are talking about pissing red, but I've never had that experience. Maybe your kidneys are failing. You need to regularly flush them with scotch whiskey as preventative maintenance.
Now beet poops, that's another story... simply will not be deferred. Meeting with the executive VP's? Too bad, gotta go. Good for cleaning the liver, too, according to my homeopath, who I would ordinarily dismiss as a witch doctor. Except that after modern medicine had utterly failed my wife and I in our attempts to conceive a child, her herbs and remedies resulted in two beautiful, smart and sometime pleasant and obedient children. So if she says, eat beets, I ask, "how many?" |
