tabs, do the guns you collect actually work , or are they more for show?

Everything works, I just don't shoot very many of them.

how come? no shooting ranges near where you live?
or difficult to obtain ammo for these rarities?

As a matter of fact my ex-neighbor and I went shooting on Thursday mornining.

The revolver above fires a 357 Mag round, and was made around 1960.

Smith & Wesson in the mid Thirties came up with the 357 Mag round in response to Law Enforcements request to come up with more powerfull 38 Spl ammunition to help combat the Gangsters of the era. Up to then shooters were using the 38/44 Outdoorsman and cranking up the loads. In Smith nomenclature the 38 refers to caliber and the 44 to their large frame or 44 cal frame.

Smith came up with a Revolver in 1935 or so that they called the Registered Magnum, the first one being delivered to J Edgar Hoover. It was a 357 mag based on their 44 frame, it was a Revolver that you could order with any Barrel Length and features U wanted. U also could send away for a certificate of Registration. Smith saw this Revolver as a limited production premium revolver, however public response was so great that after 5000 Revolvers they stopped offering the Registration. After WW2 production resumed on the Magnum revolver offering only standard barrel lengths etc, becoming known as the Model 27. Production continued until the early 90s and has recently been resurected by Smith.

Today the Registered Mags are an extrememly desirable Revolver, because of its custom nature. I have seen a Registered Mag sell for $17000.00 back in 1998, I was a way underbidder on it as a matter of fact. Today a Reg Mag will sell between for $5000 to $11000 depending on Barrel Length and other features. The Postwar Guns go for around $1200.00 for the early ones to about $650.00 for a later one.

I have a pretty clean 4" that wasn't pickup up this year, would trade it's checkered grips for your smooth ones. I don't see many of those.
Had a 3 1/2" I had to sell years ago to get through the month.

I will tell U exactly where my love for guns comes from. My Grandpa used to go hunting and had a number of rifles and shotguns. Nothing expensive nor spectacular about them. Whenever I would visit I would play with the guns. Its basically out of those fond memories, a love for history and the treasure hunt aspect of trying to find something unusal that makes it a passion in my life.

What I find disingenous about Liberals and their hate for guns is that they give so much power to an inanimate object. A gun has no will of its own, it has no power of locomotion. It sits there, until a Human picks it up and uses it. Therefore what Liberals are too afraid to deal with is, what is in the hearts of men and what they will to do. This wish to control through law belies Liberals belief that men are incapable of being responsible for their actions and this is a pejorative view of mankind.

Perhaps what Liberals fear is what is in their own hearts.

That is painting with a very broad brush, tabs, and merely conjecture on your part. Although I am against severely limiting the second amendment, I do find it hard to believe that every gun owner is conservative and competent to be a gun owner.

Then again, so many of your posts are conjecture and hyperbole!! That's your most endearing quality!! (that and your undying love and adoration for your mother)

There are at least 250,000,000 guns in the United States. How many millions of Gun Owners are there? Divide the number of deaths due to Firearms (under 40,000) from all causes into the 50 to 100 Million people who own guns and tell me what the ACTUAL percentage is.

So if you asked me the HUGH MAJORITY of Gun Owners do act responsibly. Furthermore what level of control do U want over YOUR life to insure that this small percentage is reduced further, not eradicated but reduced. Do U want to check your Box Cutter at the door where ever U go? Life at times becomes messy, everything isn't ALWAYS nice and tidy. There is ALWAYS going to be a small percentage of the people that will go awry. THAT IS THE PRICE U HAVE TO PAY TO LIVE IN A FREE SOCIETY. Are U advocating we live in a LESS FREE society?

Now if you look at the DOJ stats the GREAT Percentage of Deaths by Firearms is in the Hispanic and Black communities even though they represent a minority population in the society. Gun Control therefore represents BACKDOOR RACISM by Liberal Gun Control advocates.

It only takes one to act irresponsibly to ruin it for the rest. That is what I would like to see eliminated. Is there a cogent argument against that kind of thinking? That is, an argument not laced with emotion and the feeling that some of the "pros" are becoming more and more strident and paranoid?

How many times do I have to reiterate that I am against changes to current law that would prevent a well balanced citizen from being able to adequately defend himself? What does it take to convince dome folks that not everyone is competent to even handle firearms? It would seem the time has come for the different sides on this issue come together and seek common ground. Otherwise, it may, in the future, get messy.

If Mr Cho didn't have access to firearms, he was certainily smart enough and determined enough to make bombs out of PVC pipe and nails.

Americans are taught that any slight to your honor is justification for violent action. That the way to resolve conflict is through violence. Americans live in a culture of violence. Until that changes, that addressing your grievences by other means is the only way to solve them and that violence is not tolerated. Until that day comes we will have our Mr Chos.

You must fear liberals with guns, lot of us on the board here and don't forget it.
