Isn't the net itself a reflection of society, warts and all?

Porn is the most looked at thing on the internet because people like sex and you can get as much different pics and videos as you want basically for free! So, something that provides a deep-seeded level of satisfaction (seeing hot nakid women doing stuff), you get a huge variety and you get it for free. Really, it don't get much better brotha! You don't see great works of literature or art being down loaded like porn. The population doesn't want that. What is on the net is there because it fills a need.

Barbie fills that need as well. You give a 5 year old girl the choice of a Barbie doll with a few changes of clothes or a bag of sticks and she will go for the doll 9 times out of 10. A little boy will go for the bag of sticks 9 times out of ten. You can't fight nature.

I have two nieces (19 and 18 now) that were addicted to Barbie stuff for years as kids. They have turned out Ok with no more focus on appearance than any other young adult I see. I hate the Barbie stuff too but there are too many similar messages in society and you cannot block them all.

Thankfully my 5 year old daughter never seems to pickup the plastic Barbie doll toys. They are in the pile but stuffed animals, fabric dolls and cars are picked up more often. Now the weather is cooperating, the sand box is getting the attention.

Girls are into perfecting what is there, boys are into finding a way to use it differently. (I hope this is wrong).

This all boils down to natural selection. What men find attractive is based on a woman that will bear many children...large hips, big boobs, etc. Even makeup is based on attracting a mate, red lipstick is supposed to hearken to the flush of the lips when a woman is aroused...

We are all just peacocks, preening our feathers.

People who think that women and men are not fundamentally different are way off base, my son loves cars...has since he was a baby. My daughter is all into shoes, dresses, princess tiaras and dolls. We didn't push either way, at least not consciously...
