NASCAR Sponsorship Question
How does NASCAR sponsorship work? I saw an ad for NAPA where the NAPA driver and the UPS driver both wore their official race suit in the ad. They suits also had all the other sponsors, Pepsi, Moog, etc. How does this work? Does UPS endorse NAPA then? How do they work this stuff out?
Interesting that the drivers are allowed to be in ads with their official gear on...I guess it's different than other sports. Cases in point: When I lived in Atlanta, the Braves (owned by Turner/Time Warner) must have must some stringent rules.... The players would appear in ads, but in a "baseball uniform" for no specific team Growing up in DC, I seem to recall the tie in of the actual Redskins and whatever was being advertised/endorsed. How does this work? |
In that particular case, NAPA and UPS are two sponsors of the same team -- Michael Waltrip Racing.
