I live in so-cal also...Dont you agree thay have done a wonderful job of destroying the place. LA IS MEXICO...Its disturbing...I grew up in LA and have watch it deteriorate to a toilet....I had to moved to Rancho so that my kids would aleast be in a racially mixed school. I drove the 10 frwy to Westwood when I bought my 930 back in Novenber and it was shocking how bad LA has become. My father worked at the LA times when I was a kid and I used to go down there weekly. Its scary ugly like walking down Revolution Ave in TJ. Illegals are bringing Mexico with them...This is scary. This is my greatest concern for the country...

My great grandfather bragged his entire life that he immigrated to the US from Sweden by working on a merchant vessel of some kind and jumping ship in New York harbor around 1900. The whole story became family lore and is repeated for every new generation. I have no way of knowing whether it is a true story or not; he was also reputedly quite a tall tale teller. But I feel a little uncomfortable having grown up with a story like that and criticising today's illegal immigrants.

My Grandmother and Grandfather on my Dad's side did the same..they overstayed their visa's.

They did not suck off of the goverment, My Grandmother came in when she was 16 and NEVER took a dime from the goverment.

The issue with whats happening now is that alot of the people comming in right now DON'T want this place to be America, They want this place to be like what they left.

we need to welcome the good-ones that come in.

Not the ones that are causing the issues. they need to be sent home.

Your Grandfather became an American...And probably fought for his country...too. Immigration didnt become illegal until later..One of the reasons was disease. Polio and TB were irradicated in this country and are now showing up all over. My decendants were immigrant europeans but everyone became a true and proud American. I dont know of any who have ever been in jail. Most served in WW1 and WWII and didnt come here to change it into Germany/England. I wonder why this discomforts you??? Maybe I'm just overly sensitive about my country because you and I have had words about selling out to China.

I'm in the middle class and work for a Major Aerospace Manufacturer. Do you think it would be wise to transfer aerospace technology to foreigners..maybe my company should hire illegals to do the remedial assembly work and put some more Americans out of work...

I just dont think this country is headed in the right direction...We need a change...

I wonder how many people that were citizens at the time of your Grandparent's arrival thought the same way of them as you do.

Okay I am admittedly out of the loop... is this a day for Americans to protest illegal aliens or for illegal aliens to protest... wtf do they have to protest?

As for me, Harbor freeway @ 6:30AM traffic was the same... and it appears all the cafeteria workers are in the kitchen cooking and cleaning so pretty much a non-event in my life.

The real irony is that in Mexico, it's actually ILLEGAL for foreign nationals to protest or join in such assemblies at all - subject to arrest and detention in a Mexican jail.

My wife came here legally from Ireland.
There was an unbelievable amount of paperwork and interviews, and at the time, it was quite expensive for us (different job then, barely making ends meet...).

But she did it legally, and by God every other MFing immigrant should also.

Grandfather came with a diplomatic visa, during the start of WWII
He stayed due to the risk of travel to England during wartime.
He died in 1947.


Grandmother came in 1919 and never worked,never took welfare, never took social security. (she came from Toronto,Canada) She died in 1989

I have customers that are Illegal Aliens form Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras & other countries.

The Majority of them are hard working guys that I like.

One of them told me that it was time to build the wall !

My thought is that if you come here and don't make problems, Welcome.

But if you come here trying to make the U.S.A just like a third world country, it's time for you to go.

how many of us would be afraid for life or property if we put a 'go home illegals' bumper sticker on our cars.

for those of us that would raise our hands let us consider what is wrong with this place that we fear such a thing. it is a very large version of what happens when low income housing is built in an otherwise decent community. yes, the theory of helping others is all fine and dandy, but the reality is a far different thing.

Doesn't the word "ILLEGAL" mean that its AGAINST the Law. This Country was founded on the principle of following the RULE OF LAW. By allowing Illegal Aliens carta blac America is going agianst the very principles it was founded upon. If this is the case then other indiscretions like Torture, or abridging Civil Rights oughta be ALLRIGHT to.

I think it's important to make sure the focus is correct here. This isn't about immigrant-bashing. With very few exceptions we're all immigrants or descendants of immigrants, and the vast majority of us understand this.

The problem arises when the people in question are not immigrants (a term I believe should be reserved as a term of respect for legal entrants) but illegal entrants. The secondary problem arises when those entrants are not here to become part of this society, but have no desire to assimilate and are conducting a de facto form of conquest where portions of our country are being annexed to another society through sheer numbers.

Whether an illegal entrant is hard-working or nice or doesn't cause "problems" is irrelevant. Being here for some time is irrelevant. What is relevant is that they were willing to break the law to get here and think that by yelling loud enough (a collective tantrum) they should be given a free pass for their transgression. Being an illegal brings with it all kinds of other problems, such as the need to use stolen social security numbers, fraudulent drivers licenses, predatory employer practices, etc, and creates an underground culture that can only survive on continued illegal/dishonest practices. Not good for this society, and I'm not buying it.

My neighbors are German; they entered legally and are model citizens, but I have no doubt that had they entered illegally the INS would be all over them. They incurred substantial expense and expended great effort to get here - are we going to tell them that it would have been better to sneak in? Are we going to repay them for their substantial expenses because we "really didn't mean that there are immigration rules"? Are we going to have one set of rules for "south of the border" and another set of rules for the rest of the world? To treat them differently than entrants from Mexico is, put simply, racism.

Governments have not only the right to control entry into a country, but also the responsibility to do so. Our government has abdicated that responsibility and they should be held accountable for that negligence. We desperately need a guest-worker program; one with enforcement teeth and a ticket home at the end of the visa. We desperately need to start enforcing our laws consistently, not just the ones that are convenient today. We desperately need to get control of our borders. And we desperately need to stop this idiotic talk of amnesty for current illegal entrants.

Be legal or Be Gone.
Hire an illegal, go to jail.
Shelter an illegal, go to jail.

Correct, not about immigrant-bashing, only the illegals, who chose to ignor our laws and snub our customs

Jim- you got my support...whatta we gunna do? The Repubs want the labor and demos want there vote.....Maybe theres a way we can get rid of um like the Indians and the Buffalos... Lets stick um in one spot and create Mexican Gaming.. Indio, Califoirnia will do...Cant tear up anything down there...
