How Many Moving Violations Have You Gotten?

I guess if you successfully contested one (and won't hesitate to bring it up with any unsuspecting listener :p ), that wouldn't count. But anything for which you've paid the fine or attended traffic school (or are planning to). Just wondering if 911 drivers are a bunch of lead-footed maniacs on the streets.

mattdavis11 05-02-2007 06:04 PM

1, but not in a 911. (I thought you could out run em in those) The morning after a superbowl party, it was a 200 miler back home, 82 in a 60. Plead nolo contendere, it should have been worse.
As for the 911 drivers yes, yes they are. OMG! Everytime I drive my Land Cruiser they want to race! WTF?

gprsh924 05-02-2007 06:05 PM

1- for doing 14 over in a pack of cars...I guess they single out the 17 year old in a red porsche... been pulled over 4 different times, the other three i walked away with warnings because i wasnt going more than 8 or 9 over

Dave L 05-02-2007 06:31 PM

6, in 16 years of driving. All speeding

legion 05-02-2007 06:32 PM

4. All speeding. None since 2002.

pwd72s 05-02-2007 07:00 PM

Before V-1? LOTS! Since V-1? None. But was it V-1 or that I finally became mature? Damndifiknow...

FastCarFan 05-02-2007 07:06 PM

Can't remember for sure. I can easily think of 6 off the top of my head, so it must be 7-9...at least. They were all for speeding.

None in the last 3 years, 1 in the last 6 years -- thank you V1!

And none in the red 911 I have had for 6 years...although I only drive it about 2,800 miles a year. However I am sure it is only a matter of time....

TerryH 05-02-2007 07:12 PM

Age needs to factor in here somewhere. Been driving for 35 years. Not sure how many. More than 10, less than 15, but only one in the last 18 years.

My first ticket was for drag racing. My dads '71 LTD against my friends '65 Impala. The 327 beat the 351 twice. We should have stopped at once, because they were waiting the second time.

Had my license for a whole month before State Farm cancelled me and my license was suspended for 90 days. My name was specifically excluded on my dads State Farm auto policies for the next 20 years!

masraum 05-02-2007 07:23 PM

probably more than 10 in the last 20 years, but I couldn't say for sure. Almost all for speeding.

red-beard 05-02-2007 07:44 PM

I'd have to really think tlo get the exact count. What I do know is that I go in cycles. I'll go 5 years or without anything and then BLAM 6 tickets in one year, spread over different driver's licenses and jurisdictions.

4 Early in college
1 late
6 in the infamous year
1 in NY
2 in CA
1 in TX

Most of them were dismissed or plead out in court....except the year of 6.

on2wheels52 05-03-2007 04:42 AM

Clean since I got rid of the VFR four years ago.

Probably 20 in the first 10 years of driving plus numerous suspensions. Mostly stupid stuff, some I deserved, some were unjustified.

Got real tired of paying $3-4000 in insurance. Decided to grow up.

Have not been pulled over in 15 years.

VINMAN 05-03-2007 05:14 AM

Twenty five yrs of driving= 0

johnco 05-03-2007 05:28 AM

3 before got my driver's license, 10 more before 18, maybe 6-8 since then. Never got one in the 911 but one speeding in the 924 20+ years ago. got the 10 before 18 driving an old van, hair halfway down my back and tinted windows... all from the same cop.. funny how I would get clocked at 70+ driving behind and in front of other cars. singled out perhaps? sold the van and no tickets for at least 10 years. I don't think the van would have gone over 55 with a tailwind. I've been let off with just a warning many many times. sometimes it pays to be drinking buddies with a few local policemen.

id10t 05-03-2007 05:32 AM

None.

ALthough I did get a warning once for walking on I-75....

84porsche 05-03-2007 06:38 AM

3 so far in this life (almost 10 years with my license), knock on wood. And plenty of close ones. The radar detector comes with me everywhere I go now.

widebody911 05-03-2007 06:58 AM

I got a speeding ticket about 3 weeks ago, 85+ in a 70, on my way to Thunderhill. The previous speeding ticket was in 2001 on my way to Sears Point. Both were courtesy of CHP on the freeway.

I got pulled over last summer on a surface street by CHP and read the riot act for "speeding" but all I got out of it was a warning and a ticket for no front plate.

jriera 05-03-2007 07:37 AM

2 in 15 years, never on the Porsche; one speeding with the minivan at 6 AM on the way to the airport, one for 'failure to make a complete Stop while turning right at a traffic light'.

7 warnings in 5 days for noise with the 930, looks like my local police did not like the 'open pipe' .. ended installing a Ruf muffler.

svandamme 05-03-2007 08:05 AM

20+ speeding
none recently , few in Porsche

i got most of em in my former ,crappy company diesel when i still did 100 000 km/year

took forever to get to 160km/h , and once i got to 160 , i was hell bent on staying at 160... which was a problem for speed traps

in the Porsche i just throw out the anker, and i'm usually right back to 120 by the time the camera get's me in it's sight... and just a few secs later i'm back at 160...

Schrup 05-03-2007 09:08 AM

I got three speeding tickets in 3 months at 18 years old, two since & none (knock on wood) in the last 13 years. I've had at least a dozen warnings, probable closer to 20.

MattKellett 05-03-2007 10:46 AM

I've had 3 to my name, all in the UK ..... 1st when 18 speeding, 2nd damn speed camera and 3rd for my father speeding (by camera), but I took the ticket as I was returning to the US that week. Dad called Police and said I was driving but now in US with US drivers licence and they ripped up the ticket:)

syncroid 05-03-2007 12:22 PM

30+ years of driving. No tickets since 1985. Before that, I had too many to remember. I kept them (and the letters from DMV) in a shoe box. I guess I have mellowed out with age.

arerrac 05-03-2007 04:50 PM

Since I've owned my Carrera (4.5 years) only one.

But I made it a good one. 110+ mph in a 65 mph. (and I was slowing down from about 137 mph )

Saturday evening on Hwy 280 from San Jose to Redwood City all alone on the road. Well, just me and a CHP ;-)!

He was pissed, but could only site me and send me on my way.

Cost me a mandatory court appearance and $201 fine.

I sure was moving!!!

The weird this in that a year and a half later, no point on my record. At least not yet.

(knocking wood)

campbellcj 05-03-2007 09:22 PM

Knock on wood I haven't had a ticket since 1999 or 2000! The white Audi I drive now is more of a sleeper...plus I have a V-1. Last pullover was while towing a trailer down a grade, 69-70 in a 55 trailer limit, but got my first and only warning in my life.

In my younger and dumber days I got several for 29mph over, no-turn signs and crap like that. Always went to traffic school so my insurance is squeaky clean.
