Monster Garage 944 golf cart

Anyone see this episode? I saw parts of it, it was a 944 that they turned into a driving range golf cart ball picker that can also shoot back balls. pretty funny.

I respect Jesse James artistic and mechanical abilities AND I understand the show itself is campy and over the top building totally ridiculous impractical vehicles...

However I hate the sledgehammer/crowbar/blowtorch mentality of the show. Such as whenever they have to remove a window they take a hammer to it... a window that could have been sold for a hundred bucks. Kind of like when you go to a junkyard for a tie rod and you find some clod cut it with a torch to get the hub off.

You should see the Top Gear video of a 911 being driven into a wall, and dropped from a crane just to show how sturdy the car is.

Really!? I have never seen that can you post a link?

I heard once about a Targa that got frozen when a pipe burst, but I can't seem to locate a photo of that event.

Martin -
My fave is when the beat the living snot out of a Toyota Hilux truck (hit it with a wrecking ball, drown it in the sea, drop a caravan on it, and set it afire) and it still runs... so they put it on top of a 22 story building which they then demo.

They exhume the truck from the debris, and....

Well, google Toyota Hilux and Top Gear. The video(s) (it's divided between 2 episodes) are great.... if you can find them nowadays.

I'll keep looking for you.... you've gotta see it to believe it.

JP

EDIT: Here it is!!! Enjoy!

My friend Dan has been on Monster Garage a few times. He's the robotics expert and he was featured on the episode where the Suzuki Samurai was converted into a hot air balloon. He told me that all of the internecine rivalry, petty bickering, screwups, etc... are all orchestrated, along with the "we're running out of time" scenario played out in every single episode.

I watched it for a bit, then realized that Jesse James is an egotistical posuer with more tatoos than brains and an overdeveloped sense of accomplishment... What a schmuk!

But a very wealthy schmuk!

As azasadny said these shows are all scripted BS... who knows what JJ (or the Tutles or Boyd) might be like in real life.

high precision engineering is definitely not synonymous with Monster Garage. they are good with torches and hammers and pipes, but that's about it. however, it's a fun show to watch, esp. when things go terribly wrong.
