I was at the local Best Buy today browsing some Cd's and what not. as I walked around I heard some kid start to wine and moan as I looked over I saw a maybe ~12 year old kid punch his mother, first in the hip then as she bent down to try to subdue the little punk he punched her again in the ribs. He was screaming at her because she would not buy him the laptop that he wanted. He hit her hard too, I heard it from 20 or so feet away.
Sickening. |

Gotta love todays kids. I know the parents have to take some of the blame for it but, society today has lost it's values.
If someone ever hit my mom.........................well I'll just say population decrease. I was walking through our local indoor mall a few years ago and I came upon a fellow who had just hit his GF/Wife and was loading up for another round. I came up behind him and put him down with one shot to the base of the skull. I was taught you never hit a female...................never. To my suprise as I was about to ask the woman if she was ok, the beiotch started swinging at me. So much for a good dead. I walked away as I wished her all the good fortune she seemed to want.

Hmmmm Best Buy? No Walmart in your town? That usually is the haven for public displays of domestic violence.

Absolutely. But you still did the right thing, Rick. I stepped into the face of an inked-up loser chasing his GF around a parking lot once for long enough that she got away from him, (she kept running), my adrenaline just took over. Scared me a little afterwards when I thought about it, but he was caught off-guard by my action and didn't do schit. Guys who like to beat women or kids are on the top of my hit-list.

I was at the local PO yesterday, waiting my turn at the automated postage machine behind a couple (husband and wife). As they finish up, the wife notices some shortcoming in their transaction and immediately grinds into him, first berating him in front of the others in line, then escalating loudness outside, even though he was apologizing, and oblivious to those around her, even minutes after I finish up.
Why can't these "disagreements" be held in private? Couldn't she wait until they get into their car or maybe the public dress down was part of the effect. I felt so embarrassed for the guy, I wanted to approach him and offer my sympathies; also punch the wife for her "public display of marital nastiness." A few years ago, there was a couple in the car in front of me in a morning ride on the freeway. I could tell they were agitated (yelling, hand motions), when all of a sudden he unloads a backhand to her face. She in turn retaliates wth a series of right hands as he steers. This shout and hit scenario continues off and on for a few miles. I even followed them off my normal path for a bit in case he decided to exit and take it to the next level. Not sure what I would do in the event that happened. Maybe just an obvious witness in the immediate area is enough of a deterrent. You single guys (and ladies). Be careful, very careful who you hook up with. And these are adults. Sherwood |

Wow, this is all pretty wild stuff. But, here's my story; it's not about a son hitting his mother, though:
I rolled up to a house with an early morning appointment to install some doors. As I was getting out of the truck, first the husband (assumption here) comes out of the house immediately followed by the wife in a bathrobe. They had obviously been at it for at least a few minutes inside when he decided that leaving for work was a good idea. She kept up at him with the worst language I've ever heard from a woman at top volume all the way down the driveway and into the street. Barefoot and bathrobe, what a sight. How would you like to begin an installation on those terms? I can tell you I had that door in as fast as they go. Less than an hour when I usually take 3. This was beyond "dirty laundry in public." |

My first year bouncing in a club back in 94, the bouncer who had warned me to never go alone when confronting a domestic issue, got his skull cracked by a woman as he was holding her man so she could get away.
The guy had hit her so bad her nose was broken and one eye swollen shut. Jason had run out to stop it, when he grabbed the guy and drug him off the girl she reached into their car, and grabbed a baseball bat and hit him, screaming "don't hurt my man". Jason went to the hospital with a concusion and a hair line crack in his skull, the girl and guy went to jail, the cops told me she wouldn't press charges later, and this wasn't the first run in with the two. Jason pressed assault charges, but he quit working, and I don't know where it went. In 7 years of bouncing I never had to hit a woman. I was slapped alot of time, had my ear rang once of twice, but I never hit any. I honestly don't think I could. |

I hate to say it, but on Mulholand today, a lady was driving in the opposite direction and as I passed, I saw turn and slap one of her kids a couple of times - while going around a corner! I wish I could have noted her plate.

I dunno. If I got punched or attacked by some chick acting like a dude- especially if she was armed with a bat I'd have to take a shot...
Yelling and screaming is one thing, assault is another. rjp

Saw a 6yo kid get backhanded for being whiny in the middle of a crosswalk, and really wanted to say something, but mamma was bigger than me and pissed. Wonder how junior deals with his frustrations 15 years from now....
I live next to a section 8 building, so there is Jerry Springer going on 24/7 in the parking lot.

I must be a redneck. I was in Sam's Club listening to a woman trying to reason with an obnoxious 6 yo screaming about candy or something
Offered to loan her my belt and she looked at me like a monster. Told her she would only have to do it once unless he was not too bright, which made her kinda mad

I don't think I would step in to stop some of these scenarios. If it was a guy hitting a complete stranger or non-significant other, then maybe. But what good are you doing? It's not like you're gonna stop a guy from beating his wife once they get home and fight about it again. This stuff doesn't just happen once and women rarely leave men who beat them more than once without outside counseling or police intervention. Denis, for the inked-up guy, do you think he's not going to finish the job when he gets home or take it out on the girl? Such people are not going to change their behavior because someone steps in when in public. It may just drive the behavior more underground, but it's not going to stop.

Actually it kind of reminds me of a story... My wife and I were assaulted by a group of ill-mannered youngsters one time. A guy in the group hit me and then a girl hit my wife. Being hit by the guy didn't anger me, but when that girl hit my wife I saw red. Instantly. I really shouldn't say how the situation ended but it got immediately ugly. Its funny how protective we are of our spouses. Probably why those women stood up for their men even after being beaten by them.

There's an old persian saying (go figure) that goes - It's safer to take a lion cub from its mother than an illusion from a woman.
These women are under the illusion that maybe the man will change. Or maybe they just don't think they can make it without the POS. If anyone ever hits either of my daughters, I wont have to retaliate, they will cut the SOB continuously and the prick will wish he was never born.

maybe an upbringing like that is what enabled the douchebag thug to punch a 91 year old man over a dozen times during a car jacking. at least I'm betting thats what the bleeding heart liberal azzwipe lawyer will say.

It seems like parenting skills have gone the way of common sense and civil society, all will be missed.
There used to be social stigma around public behaviour, it was not uncommon for one of my neighbours to haul my little rude a** back to my parents when I did stuff that was uncivilized. If my parents got into it (which they did), the neighbour lady would show up with a plate of cookies and "interrupt". My parents took time and did not take any crap from me, I did not take any crap from my kids, but then again, they never had to take my crap. If I messed up, I apologized to them and then worked to not do it again....if they messed up, I expected no less. I think this whole "Do your own thing" from the 60's, coupled with insistence on one's rights and lack of any moral code behind people will mark this as a pretty poor generation. The boomers got it wrong...maybe our kids can fix our mess. Dennis
