It's almost BBQ season, what and how do you guys like to BBQ?
Being that temps reached above 90 today here in So. Cal, I took apart nearly every piece and scrubed the outdoor BBQ to get it ready for the season.
So tell me what do you like to BBQ and any special way you like to prepare (marinate etc.) what your cooking? What do you serve with your BBQ'd specimen?

Ribeye steaks! Montreal steak seasoning and a little olive oil.
Salmon... Marinade in teriyaki, orange juice, fresh ginger, maybe some lime juice and olive oil. Wow!! thick cut vegetables. I like onions and bell peppers with my steak. Shrimp or lamb ka-bobs. Great idea for a topic ( smacks lips ) KT

Sausage fest.
Invite a bunch of friends over with instruction to bring their favorite along with a sauce or mustard. You'll end up with a nice variety or you'll find you all like the same. Johnsonville brats are good. KT

King prawns, porterhouse steaks, and if you have a really good butcher - some of his deli quality sausages.

I use my grill year round. During the warmer months I tend to grill seafood alot more than meats. Shrimp, grouper, tuna, swordfish, mako. Another fave is flatbreads and grilled pizzas.

Quick question to the gurus. My wife was using the grill (yes she was punished accordingly
) and the grease trap caugh fire and really got a blaze going. My grill has cast iron grates that were seasoned very well but now they appear dry and they even flaked a layer of metal after the blaze! Any "re-seasoning" secrets? Oh, my quick/easy favorite is a baseball steak. One flip, six minutes a side on low flame. I have no real skills in this area

My birthday and father's day present is to do an all-day bbq; usually whole drunk and dirty tenderloin or pork shoulder on the smoker. The pork is an all day thing which absolutely demands my constant attention for 14 hours.
Beer, chips, racing, cigars, bbq, then a good night scotch. Going to happen this weekend and can't wait.

Two years ago I broke down and bought a new natural gas grill. I BBQ at least once or twice a week and i hated having to go get the propane tank re-filled every month.
Favorite? spare ribs (dry rub), rib-eye or t-bone, hamburgers, bratwurst, halibut. |
