Just Like Paris Hilton

Media whore extraordinaire...

LOS ANGELES - Academy Award-winning filmmaker Michael Moore is under investigation by the U.S. Treasury Department for taking ailing Sept. 11 rescue workers to Cuba for a segment in his upcoming health-care documentary "Sicko," The Associated Press has learned.
Hmmm....he's producing another anti-American documentary. Ya think the Cuban government wouldn't make sure these people got the best treatment possible? (Far and above what the average Cuban gets...)

No, keeping the dictator in power and preventing political opposition is priority #1 in Cuba.

Eye opening info.....

Cuba does a nice job, given their per capita health care budget of a few hundred dollars per year. But health care is not better than that in US and Europe. Sounds like you got sucked into believing Castro's propaganda message numero uno.

maybe you ought to read

Public Health care

and there are plenty of source that confirm it
BBC is not on Castro's payroll nor is Harvard, or any of the other sources you can find if you care to look for em

I kinda doubt that Cuba has state of the art x-ray, MRI's, Cath Labs, etc, etc, etc when the streets are full of '56 Chevys.

No thanks, I'll stay here.

svandamme 05-10-2007 07:25 AM

do you think somebody without medical insurance in the US has access to MRI's and other fancy gear?

hytem 05-10-2007 07:29 AM

Moore has a lot of balls--unlike Paris Hilton, who's a genuine media whore.

He goes after General Motors for having to fire workers because of the incompetence of their upper management. He even goes after Charlton Heston for making millions off the gun lobby. And he even questions why Bin Laden's family was whisked out of the country after 9/11.

Moore must drive the Right Wing nuts. He makes them look bad--worse than they are. I have no doubt Rove and his bunch are looking for ways to get him--much more than Paris Hilton.

Cuba? I have no love for Castro--the SOB wanted to nuke the U.S. in the Cuban missile crisis--to the horror of the Russians. But those poor Cuban people have suffered enough, and something should be done to help them. It's time to start trading again. They have plenty of sugar cane for ethanol down there.

Yes. Yes they do.

One of the reasons that Health insurance is expensive in the US is that Hospitals are required by law to provide medical care to _ANYONE_ regardless of ability to pay. They increase the charges to legitmate health insurance customers to make up for it.

How did Heston make money from the Gun Lobby? I think you'll find that his being President of the NRA was most ceramonial.

If a guy shows up at the ER of my hospital (I work at one) w/o insurance he is given the treatment as my Blue Cross and Blue Shield card gives me.

allow me to rephrase
do non insured patients get exactly the same level of treatment as insured patients??

i hear people here on the board about certain conditions, they go , insist on an MRI for this or that reason, demand it...

if insured folks need to push for an MRI... will a homeless person get to push for an MRI if he has the same condition?? something non life threatening?

red-beard 05-10-2007 07:50 AM

Yes. They get the same treatment, in a hospital.

svandamme 05-10-2007 07:54 AM

even for treatments that are "a long shot" ?

URY914 05-10-2007 07:57 AM

How many people have to tell you something before you believe it???

svandamme 05-10-2007 07:59 AM

i just don't get it

if non insured = insured in terms of health care
why bother paying for insurance??

surely , if it's the same level, one could save quite some money by not getting insured , no?

Because you will still owe for the service. They can hound you via debt collectors and even garnish your wages. But if you have nothing, they get nothing. Homeless drug addicts and drunks don't set a real high priority on their credit score.
