when do we get the 24hr rally channel? WRC during prime time and vintage footage after hours. i'd drop speed channel if i could get such a thing!

Jr. may have some talent, but there's an abundance of talent in the seats and in the background, like the engineers. Jr. will not have any more success with any other team, IMHO. His best move might be to oval racing in the IRL, but his name won't buy stink there after the initial period. He'll have to race himself to success. What a novelty.

OTOH, it would be great if he went to Richard Childress. I mean, Dale Sr. never drove for DEI.

How is Teresa related to DJ?

not gonna happen...already has his four teams

more like RCR or Gibbs...top chevy teams that have room for one more driver

Why the heck would Teresa give away half of her newly found wealth to Jr. If he was winning, maybe then it's worth it. His good days are behind him. He's better off being a celebrity. He will always have endorsement income and will be a crowd pleaser where ever he ends up. He should have found a way to contest Dale Sr.'s will and taken control back then. It's the american way.

Stepmother, although their ages aren't that different. Sr. and Teresa had one child, a girl.

He should come to Germany and drive DTM cars. =o)

Jr. drove a Corvette at the Daytona 24 on the same team as his dad. Sr. had more road racing experience, but they both ran some good laps. IIRC, Jr. got caught in the rain on one stint and looped it more than once. It was an experience, I'm sure, but I don't think he's much of a road course fan.

BTW, in his early days in stock cars, he behaved much like Bode Miller. He wasn't too serious, but his name brought success, especially after his dad's death. Any other situation would have produced meager results and he would be likely out on his ear by now.

I would submit that NASCAR "let" him win some races to keep the momentum going. I know damn well they have allowed certain teams to have a little edge now and then to stage results. And, there have been times when a team has snookered the NASCAR officials and they didn't like to be upstaged. An example is Harry Gant's string of short track wins a few years back. No one could figure that out until they found that the car had negative camber on the outside rear wheel and posiitve camber on the inner one.

Welded up backing plates at the camber settings and machined axles allowed them to do this for several races before getting caught.

If what you are saying is true. Smoke will never win a race again.

Junior will be in a black #3 Budweiser Monte Carlo/Impala for Richard Childress Racing.

TerryH 05-10-2007 08:41 PM

All them toothless rednecks with the big ol' red 8 tatoo'd or burned into their hides are hoping he rides in the 3. That way it should only take half the skin graphs to fix it.

You know, for someone from Canada, you sure do have us rednecks figured out :)! I had the local news on this morning (and obviously, this is a big local story), and saw quite a few clips that probably don't make national reports. Dale Jr's sister (I don't know if she is Teresa's daughter or not) is his business manager (news to me), and THEY are going to listen to all offers since Dale Jr says: "It doesn't cost money to listen...". But the consensus is that the above statement is virtually a done deal, and Dale Jr. will be driving the for the orginazation that his dad won most of his championships with. For me, like most other "old time Dale Sr." fans, who may have lost interest, this is kind of like Michael Jordan returning to the NBA after his retirement...I will now be watching. Jr. is a "megastar", much like his dad, and imo, this move will do for Nascar what his father did back in the 80-90's...cha-ching! It's a BIG business guys, and maybe some of them good 'ole boys aren't so dumb afterall.

I'd never heard that part of it, but I sure remember when Harry was dominating the short tracks riding around the high line all by himself :)

Big racing is big business in all the series. The racing is 1/2 the equation; at best.

Next year: Dale Jr./ Bud/ #3/ couple of Eury's/ Childress/ Championship. DEI will fade away in 5 yrs or less.
