Kathryn on Tuesday June 19th

Another day of MARGINAL improvement. Stable, swelling is going down...I can see the tendons in her hands now and her face looks almost normal.

For you MDs out there, here are the meds and dosages as taken off the infusers

Fentynal 150 mcg/hr
Insulin 3 units/hr
Midazolam 2 mg/hour
Amiodarone 1 mg/min
Lepirduin .042mg/kg/hr
TPN

Vitals holding at 140/72; 90; O2 set at 60, 97 is the number that has to do with her saturation

Albuterol through a nebulizer twice(?) daily. (steroid?)

I've been keeping track of the posts and quietly praying and hoping for the best.

Any improvement is good news, marginal or otherwise. Stay strong and positive!

This is continued improvement. Exactly what those prayers have been for. Thanks, Bob, for the updates.

Should we remind you to be positive for her and the family.......and get yourself some good meals and sleep time?

Excellent. Her kidneys are recovering. She's going to get better. Any news about the platelets? Platelet count below 30,000 had me concerned. Normal is at least 120,000. Like to see at least half that.

She is still sedated and not out of the woods by a far margin, but I will take any improvement as a very good sign. Yes, prayer does work; both for the individual being prayed for and the individual doing the praying. Prayer is simply 'thanks' to whatever power one believes can intervene for us. I never ask; I thank. She is still fighting a bit of "sepsis", but her temp rarely goes above 99.1 degrees.

Yes, I am taking care of myself....Eating well but not overdoing it. Interestingly, one of our daughers who lives nearby and takes the evening vigil wound up in emergency with her hubby the other night. He has a form of plureosy; an infection between the lung and the plural(sp?) sac. Things come in bunches; he fell last week while horsing around and broke a bone in his hand. I stop over every day to visit with him for an hour or so. He is on pain killers and a strong antibiotic.

Bob,
Good hear things are working. Your son-in-law has plureosy? I had that years ago and it is about as painful as it gets. I would take a compound fracture over it anyday.

Keep the faith...

Platelet level up to 40, whatever that means!! Her eyes are a bit yellow and "reuhmy(?)". Liver coming back? That took a hit too, I suppose....

40,000 is getting there, moving in the right direction. Jaundice coloring in the eyes or skin tone as well?

Bob,

She is moving forwards and while it may seem slowly, any progress is good and what we all need to hear.

Keep plugging away and things will work out!

Good news!!! Sounds like all of our prayers are being answered. I check into Pelican OT several times a day for a "Kathryn update". My wife is also concerned about how Kathryn is doing and often asks me if there is any good news.

You, Kathryn, and your family are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. Stay positive and keep the faith. It's working!
