If you like the smell of Horse sheee-it than Wellington is the place you should move to, also either place you move to will give you a chance to practice your Spanish/Cuban speech.
Both places have out of control growth, traffic and crime... As a 18 year resident of So FL with 15 of that in law enforcment I will never live back down there again, plus getting hit by so many hurricanes I lost count , and the ever increasing cost of wind/flood and car insurance plus high property taxes....nope nada not. Having said that , have you looked at South West MO. Check out the prices on . www.bakerealty.com You have to click on "properties" then on the "farms/ranches section", And no I am not affiliated, Todd

Yep sure , all my dealings are in So. Georgia these days lol
My next move will be in the area I steered you towards, If you are destined to head to So FL give Marting County a look it right next to where you are heading and the prices are still pretty good. Todd

Dallas - What you get for your money can not be beat. The DFW area has tons to offer. It doesn't have beach but thats about all it doesn't have.

Not Wellington. In SE Florida, go no further south than PGA Blvd, and no futher west than I-95.

Make sure you understand what is happening in Florida before you take the plunge. Its totally a buyers market here. Deals can be had easily, lots of panicky sellers with houses on the market for close to 2 years now.
Insurance companies are on a money grab right now. State Farm just doubled my rates to $6500 a year, this is after the Florida Senate approved to order Florida Insurance companies to lower their rates. See where that got me? State Farm even had the audasity to inform me this price reflected the Senate ordered discount. Property Taxes are rocketing skyward as well. You will be paying taxes on the sale price of the house as that is considered fair market value. Will we be slammed by hurricanes again this year? According to the media we already had our 1st killer storm of the year. I personally think 2004 was a fluke year and we will not be seeing anything in Florida. I think any sotrms will be further north along the east coast of the US. Thats just my opinion. We shall see. I agree with pbs911 anything South of PGA and your looking at traffic, crime, and crowds. Look in Martin County, if your going to be int he area, drop me a PM and I can show you around a little if you like. I am a Land Surveyor and work all through Martin, Palm Beach, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties. I live in Martin County and there is a reason for it. Wellington is a huge cliche. I personally would never live out there. If horse type of areas or your thing, look into Jupiter Farms. Way more rural than Wellington and more down to earth. Otherwise I would take a look at Martin County. You do not want to be too far from the beach either, its the best part of Florida.
