Making Pirate (or other) T-shirts--any BTDTs?
Apparently making imprinted t-shirts in your basement is a growing hobby. Old-school screen printing and newer ink-jet/dye sublimation (for 4-color printing) are both doable at home. One thing that's nice about this is that you can put an image on a shirt for personal use that is not legal for commercial use, such as a logo or copyrighted art.
Maybe some of you have seen the t-shirts incorporating “Audi” with logos from other major brands like Nike and Coke. Very creative, very cool, but certainly can’t be mass produced. I got the idea of making myself a t-shirt with Michael Turner’s amazing Porsche 908 painting, “Sicilian Sunshine”. Anyone done this? ![]() |

You can buy printer paper that is actually iron-on stuff.... just print your pic, heat up the iron, and you're off.

I'm interested in processes that don't put a sweaty patch of impervious vinyl-like stuff on the shirt. More as if the cloth fibers are actually dyed, not coated.

I've pirated a couple of designs for shirts. I've even sold a couple of them but really wish I hadn't. I prefer to do my own thing. With the advent of these new photo editing software and printable shirt transfers, most anyone can do something original and have it look as nice.
