Lotus - Spy Shots I Just took
I think this might be the electric Lotus done by a 3rd party vendor, I'm not sure.
What do you think? I'ts been sitting outside the Lotus EPA engineering testing center in Ann Arbor, Michigan for at least a week. I don't drive much so I can't say for sure. It has a small spare tire on it, and has been sitting for at least a week, you can see all the dirt from the recent rain we have had here. Do you see a gas fill tank cap? Do see where it might plug in? I's far less insect-like than the current car, and not as round as the older version. I like it, and it's the right color.;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179935441.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179935452.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179935465.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179935477.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179935490.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179935499.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179935509.jpg |

Seriously, that simply is a completely unresolved body. Maybe thats what someone wanted as a test-bed shape. d/k. |
Very "plasticy". Looks like a cross between a gallardo, an elise, and an opel eco speedster.

That is an Opel Speedster body, which is lotus elise based. I do miss the full filler and exhausts though
|
Hideous. It looks like a fat Toyota MR2 with a hardtop.

It has to be electric. I think the front hood vents may be closed off too. EDIT: I just found this Audi R8 looking version, pretty snazzy. http://www.topspeed.com/cars/opel/opel-speedster-ar11077/picture87480-0.html http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/cro...5/88-17_cw.jpg Full article: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/opel/opel-speedster-ar11077.html |
horrible wheels on that last one.

I can't help it, those Lotus cars just do not do anything at all for me...
|
that's not a Lotus, it's an Opel/Vauxhall
they are made on the same chassis as the Lotus , but different body and engine http://www.km77.com/marcas/opel/spee...rbo/med/03.jpg |
Eeewwww.... that's disgusting.
Almost bought an Elise when they first brought them over in 05 (on the waitlist for 2 yrs but got fed up with the delays, dealer games and price hikes). Lotus seems to be having a hard time moving the cars now, which seems to be a pattern with Lotus. If this is a new version/style, it's another missed opportunity for them.... sad, since the 'performance through lightweight' concept is dead-on |
I am a silly person with some egg on my face. I went back there at 7:00 this morning; it's just some kind of old concept buck. Hey, it was a nice little fantasy while it lasted.;)
The windows, grill work, headlights and taillights are adhesive contact vinyl. The entire body is hollow, just some rusted support steel tubes so that it rolls. Someone took the spare off, I'm guessing it's going to roll off into oblivion; I wish I could buy it and put it on an old VW beetle frame or something. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1180010415.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1180010426.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1180010438.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1180010451.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1180010461.jpg |
The EPA testing building is a mile or two away. I asked the Lotus guys if they were located in Ann Arbor for that reason (last year), they said "NO". I did not really understand why they said NO, everyone else is in town for that reason. They do some engineering here, I'm guessing it's specific to the import requirements and not much else.
None of this answers why a concept buck/mule (Opel/Speedster) would be in the USA though. |
i bet it goes like stink, it must have some sort of ion drive, cause i don't see any powered axles :D
