Pelican Parts Forums - Welding class update; holy sh!t plasma cutters are F U N!

we don't have too many classes left and, unfortunately, the shop is out of gas for the Mig welders so i've been a bit bummed. it looks like the sheetmetal practice i will be getting will be on my own.

but last night in class a new toy was introduced; plasma cutters. OMG if you have never played with one of these things i urge you to find a friend with one and see what it can do. easier to use than a drill and infinitely more dangerous it is one incredible tool.

simply clamp the ground, push the button and go! ours was hooked up to compressed air and, of course, an electrical outlet. that's it! no wire feeding, no setting oxy/acet. flame just right, nothing but point and shoot!

as quickly as you can draw something you can cut it out. i could never be trusted with one of those things in my own home. i'd probably lose an arm and burn the house down on day 1. but for more responsible types i can't imagine a quicker way to cut stuff up.
