Sounds like my wife. Unfortunately, she makes $150 selling the same crap she paid $250 for at other garage sales.

Our hillbilly neighbors across the street go to every garage sale they can find, buy all kinds of bizarre crap and then put it out at the curb in a few months. Bizarre...

I was moving a few years ago and set up a yard sale with a few neighbors. One of the items I had was a woman's CZ engagement ring, appx. 1 ct. I was asking a whole $10.00 for it (but didn't have a price tag on it).

Some old geez, looked like someone's grandpa, tried to shoplift it! My girlfriend yelled to me (I was with another...(cough,cough) "customer") "that guy has your ring". He was walking back to his car. I jacked him as he got in the car (which was a nice Caddy or Lincoln) and he said "what ring?". I pulled him out of the car and started patting him down, holding him by the scruff of his neck. He started crying "don't hurt me, don't hurt me". I couldn't find the ring and, as I shoved him back in the car, I saw something gleaming in the space between the driver's seat and the door...there was the ring, right where he dropped it. I gave him a half slap/half punch in the face and told him if I ever see him in the neighborhood, I'd beat his azz purple. Dude probably still thinks to this day he almost got away with a $10k diamond ring from a yard sale...

I'm sure this post will piss somebody off, but facts is facts. Of course I am well aware that scum of all races do low deeds and this was in no way meant as a slam on any one race. How's that for a PC disclaimer?

The Haitians here are vociferous (sp?) bargainers...sometimes I wish they would just steal the item instead of haggling me to death...

Haitian: How much? Me: $5.00. Haitian: I'll give you .25 cents. Me: How 'bout $4.00? Haitian: .25 cents. Me: $3.25? Haitian: .25 cents. Me: No...I'll keep it. 2 hours later...after they return from all the other yard sales: Haitian: How much? Me: $3.25. Haitian: .25 cents. Me: OK. |

I was coming back from my uncle's wedding this afternoon, and drove by a yard sale. Saw clothes racks and tables of trinkets, so I was going to keep going.

Then I saw the garage. Brake, reverse An older guy had passed away and his kids (from out of town) were trying to sell everything off. The garage was full of great stuff. It would have been perfect for someone just starting out, lots of tools and harware in really great shape. I got the halogen worklight for $5, and paid $20 for the battery charger, which is doubt was ever used. Then the son noticed my hat with the yacht club insignia, and asked me if I needed any sails. He had a mainsail that was the perfect size, and white & crisp. Had maybe two seasons of light use. Paid $50 Anyone know what those chargers are worth? Apparently I missed the big score. They had spinnakers & lots of rigging earlier in the day, plus a Miller MIG welder and a large drill press.
