Who says Jerry cant sing?
|
Oh yeah, good stuff! :)
Man, those videos are addictive. |
I loved the bored cops... great video, thanks!
|
I sure do miss the boys.
I huge part of my life ended on Aug 9, 1995. |
Wow...they actually look and sound like a real band! Some band members are wearing cowboy hats...not exactly hippie friendly! I guess this was when their drug use hadn't fried their brains yet. Growing up in the 80s, they and their followers just seemed to be burnt out hippies who wouldn't let the 60s die...in other words I never paid them any attention. :D Maybe I'll borrow some of my dad's early Dead CDs and give them a listen!

Thanks for the post. Due to not being born until 74, I consequently missed all the earlier stuff live. Fortunately, I saw way more than my share of them near the end, from 89 on.
I still think seeing Bob at a little place in Colorado in 2002 with about 150 other people was one of the best shows I have seen. Damn good stuff. Biil |
allow me to indulge one more
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=intjkWpxGGc then I'm back to building racecars |

I sure do miss going to their shows. I saw about 150 of them. Once, while driving down University Ave after a show at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, in about 1982, Mickey Harte pulled up in a maroon 911SC. I thought that was pretty cool back then.

my first dead show was a free show in a park in 68
Greynolds Park east lovein in miami dade in april the guys played 1 pm till dark then went and did a gig at the Immage that night about 12 hours of playing that day the dead became a great country band with American Beauty and working mans their best albums both are pure hippy country rock [too bad the main country stations are so locked in to the off key crap they never even listen to let alone play the best country-rock] and with jerrys love of blue grass the sound was real as were the cowboy hats http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Beauty_(album) http://www.miamidade.gov/greynoldslovein/ |
check out google videos too. there's an AWESOME clip of the time the dead opened with Eyes of the World in East Rutherford in 1991. During the second jam, there's a part where jerry looks at vince - gives him the 'not so much' look then looks at bruce...and then goes off! Kinda' funny. It also uderscores the relationship the jerry and bruce had.
Itsa' nice! |
Oops.. was going to post in Todds Allman Bros thread

Hard to say. Which one is singing off key, Jerry or the guy next to him?
|
I miss the good times dearly... I was a trader on the floor when the news board flashed Jerry had died ( on the floor ) and I was so bummed out I left for the day. When I had my own floor firm we were called "Dark Star Trading" and I've been to over 130 shows mysefl all across the country.
I cant even go into what a big part of my life going to shows was and how much I miss that time of my life. My first show was in the fall of 1978. |
