Porsche days at Spa Francorchamps

We just happened to be in the neighborhood for the Porsche club's annual event at Spa Francorchamps... What an amazing track with some amazing cars. Just a few pics from the event:

Of course, a trip to the Ardennes wouldn't be complete with a stop by Henri Chappelle to pay respects. This is the largest US military cemetary in Belgium. Thanks gents...

And two pics of the Menin Gate in Ipers for our British friends...

Great pics Leland. Thanks for posting. We wished we could have stayed for the weekend, but we only had a relatively short time on Friday for a visit to Spa.

As for other visits, we managed to hit most of the trappist brewery locations (or at least the cafes nearby). We hit Orval, Achel, Westmalle, Chimay and even Westvleteren. No time for Rochfort on this trip... Had a great time and found the people of Belgium to be very friendly.

Thanks for the pics. Never seen that shot (#4, from the perspective of the starting grid) of the Eau Rouge before. This is on my list of car places I've got to visit before I die.

Glad you are having a good time Kevin, we were there five days later for two days of track fun, had a ball. What a track! Few pics from me:

Few more on my flickr pages here.

I have ordered copies of these two - this is me coming downhill through Bruxelles, insanely off camber hairpin and a tightening radius, so you come in thinking you're too slow and then clench in extremis as you are convinced you're too fast. The car knows better than me here. That's the new F1 Paddock in the background, this is a huge circuit:

Fun with no sun:

Can't wait for the next trip now.

John - Thanks for sharing your pics!

I was looking through our pics and found a few more that I'll post (just for kicks)...

The steepness of this part of the track just doesn't come through on television.

The new F1 garages are massive - construction was very much still a work in progress:

Cresting the brow of the hill above Eau Rouge:

Great pics Kevin. Did you get to rent a Porsche while you were out there?

Vreni, me and the kids are visiting her family in Switzerland for a month in August. No F1 this time, just showing kids their other country......But it would be nice to rent a 997 for a day....;-)
