Actually Effexor XR (time released). Made by Wyeth...relatively new ergo no generics except in Canada.

Its an SNRI as opposed to an SSRI. Best described by one of my docs as having a bit more "pop" with regard to mood elevators.

I must be really on the "edge" as 4 out of 4 MHP (2 therapsits and 2 MD's) are concerned enough to strongly suggest inpatient care immediately. Not a realistic alternative for me so I'm having to do some pretty involved o/p stuff right off the bat.

At least now I have a plan with a pretty involved treatment team and that's helping a lot.

dueller - that's been my diagnosis for the past 15 years. i've fought it since about age 27 with a combination of cbt therapy and meds. i never took effexor, personally..but as i stated before, everyone is different. don't be discouraged if effexor isn't your particular 'magic'. i tried several before i began to understand how my particular brain chemistry tends to react to certain classes of drugs. i can predict more accurately today how a particular drug (or class) may affect me in terms of benefit/side effects. don't hesitate to pm if you wanna dialogue some about it, your treatment plan, etc. i'm glad to assist.

Thx, BCC...

I've been treated in the past going off meds 6 years ago. Thought I had it under control but sometimes when you're in the midst of the condition you don't have the best insight. A hard personal inventory made me realize I'd succumbed again about 2=3 years ago but was too busy to admit to the spiral.

Thanks for your support....maybe we can get together at a PCA event in Memphis (I'm in Jackson)

sure thing, dueller. write to me if you'd like. you can even have my cell. sometimes it's easier to speak with a 'stranger' about this stuff. anyway, you have a standing invitation..i know alllll about the spiral..more than i'd care to write about publicly.

jackson, eh? i passed through there twice in the past year. a year ago when i bought a new (used) truck off of autotrader. i rode a greyhound (NEVER again) to durham, nc and had it die on me in bucksnort??, tn. i paid a local to drive me to get a battery in the middle of nowhere and then used it to make it to a jackson autozone where i borrowed tools and put on a new alternator. if i'd known you were there.. ;) last time was last july, driving back from new hampshire, right after my engagement. anyway, hoping to get together with you tenneseeans some day soon.
