The Pyrates Movie
Went to the latest installment of Johnny Depp pretending to be Keith Richards. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
However the comments previouly made about the movie missed the poignant statement Keith hisself made. "Its not what you do Mate, its if U can live with yourself." Thats the voice of experience talking if there ever was one. Now the BIG QUESTION is there going to be a #4 Pyrates Movie?

"But Disney was also celebrating how Johnny Depp and the gang's threequel logged the "biggest opening of all time" at the worldwide box office, $401 million from 29,000 screens, beating the current industry record of $382M set by Sony's Spider-Man 3"
If I was a bettin' man??

If I was a bettin' man, I'd bet that Hollywood has found the magic formula - keep doing sequels and remakes and never have to come up with an original story line or characters again. Americans will glady pay to keep seeing old stuff remade. I won't though.

Remember Bing and Bob and the Road Pictures..they made 5 or 6 of those over the years...so having a successfull franchise is nothing new and not bad if the quality of the merchandise is kept high.
So far the Pyrates movies have been decent entertainment, U get to forget yourself for a coupla hours and have some fun. Its a lot better than some of the cr@p thats been pawned off as entertainment over the past few years.

So you think doing the same thing over is a new idea? How many Roy Rogers movies did they make? I think he acted in about 180.

I have never seen a Roy Rogers movie, but I doubt I'd see more than one if any.

I loved the richness of the visuals, the costumes the sets and characterizations. It wasn't "Who is Afraid of Virginia Wollfe" or "On the Waterfront" for petes sake. It was escapist adventure. A bowl of popcorn not a gourmet dinner.

Saw it w/ the Wife and was the best of the 3. Like you said Tabs, it ain't no classic scripted film although the "banter and rapartee" is good enough. But the effects are excellent, as my Wife said, "The book's okay, but the cover is great'.
